The hotel has amazing views - that’s unfortunately all that accrues to its benefit. There was no dinner available, the bfast was probably the most sloppy hotel service meal in Japan, and the building is in the middle of nowhere forcing you to take a taxi to pretty much any location. The staff cannot communicate in English and is not particularly friendly either. The public bath space is very disappointing.

Thank you for using Hotel Nagasaki. We are sorry that we were unable to meet your expectations.Hotel Nagasaki's location offers a spectacular night view. However, the convenience is bad. We have introduced it before.

It’s not a new property and it was undergoing some repairs during our stay. The best thing we liked was the incredible view of Nagasaki Bay, especially at night. The staff was courteous and polite.

If you arrive late there is no facility for food or drink. There are no close convenience stores, the hotel has a magnificent view however it is a very steep decent and climb back through graveyards to get to a convenience store. The hotel has an excellent breakfast but is in need of a total renovation. The rates are very reasonable.

The best part of this property was definitely the view. It was absolutely stunning at night and during the day! Unfortunately the building is starting to show some age, particularly the fit-out in the bathroom and furnishings. The staff were absolutely lovely, and we had futons set up for us each night when we returned to the hotel. The location is a little bit difficult to manage. There is a red bus which goes from Nagasaki station to the hotel for about 170 yen, but there is no documentation of this online. There is also a walking track down to the station from the hotel which takes about 15 minutes (lots of steps) which you cannot find using google maps. The staff was very helpful with both of these methods of transport, despite limited English.

Small, cramped room. Dirty bathroom. Whole building needed maintenance and felt old and dirty.

Massive Hill - Pretty View
Posted 23 Sep 2018 on HotelsUnequivocally Good Points - Excellent service, amazing view of the city
Depends on the Person if these are Good Points - Traditional style Japanese rooms (service will prepare the futons in the evening, and clear them during the day), bath services available
Be Aware - It looks close to the train station, but that 900 meters is mostly straight up a massive hill of stairs that are only partially lit in the evening. This gives it an excellent view, but if you have luggage don't try to walk. Taxi from the station will run a bit over 1000 yen, but there is a bus option too that is less expensive. Since it's separated a bit by hill, it's not easy to walk to other locations. But the bus stop is right outside, and taxis are easy to request.

We rarely ever write a bad review, but this hotel was one of the worst we've ever experienced. It was quite stinky (sewer gases and cigarette smoke). Then after suffering through a day of that they asked us to leave after one night because we had a dog. Well, hotels.com says they take dogs. In our booking (over 2 months prior!) we thanked them for allowing our small dog. When we got there we showed them our dog. We carried her in and out, never leaving her alone in the room. We were stunned when they told us they didn't allow dogs. We double checked hotels.com which said "dogs allowed, 2160 yen per night." But the manager basically said we were lying and told us to leave. I really still can't believe it. As we were leaving 100s of suitcases were coming in from a tour group. We could only imagine that they needed to make room for the group.
