Study the model version of the city of T'ho, which stood here before the arrival of the Spanish. The model shows five pyramids that were dismantled shortly after the invasion. Stunning white limestone was used for the European-style constructions throughout the old center, such as the city’s main cathedral. See fascinating exhibits relating to the arrival of the conquistador Francisco de Montejo, the leader of Spanish forces who conquered T’ho in 1542. The museum building is a beautiful part of the city’s history. Inaugurated in 1908, it initially served as the Federal Post Office.
