Bring the kids to learn about animals and natural phenomena in this innovative museum full of games and modern contraptions.

Il Museo delle Scienze (MuSe) is an inventive institution with entertaining and illuminating exhibits on the natural sciences. It contains interactive displays and games that will amuse the kids for hours. Learn about rock formations, bird groups and other fascinating aspects of the natural world in this eclectic hub of information.

Enjoy the airy setting of this modern museum, which was designed by acclaimed Italian architects from Renzo Piano Building Workshop. Note the striking lines of this urban renewal project as you approach.

Among the section themes are botany, entomology, ornithology, zoology and mineralogy. Take a guided tour for an enriched experience and greater understanding of the displays.

Find out about humankind’s struggle with natural sustainability and our relationship with mountains. Use a microscope to examine tiny displays, touch fossils and minerals and explore the Tanzanian forest plants in the greenhouse. This area simulates rain and wind for a tropical experience in the museum’s basement.

Peruse the temporary exhibits that are constantly changing to keep the museum fresh and relevant. Climb to the panoramic terrace for an excellent view over the Adige Valley. The museum has seven floors in total, including the terrace and the basement level.

Learn the rich history of the Dolomites, a part of the Alps mountain range with fascinating rock formations and other geological features. Watch a short film showing the Dolomites in the eras of dinosaurs, the Ice Age and prehistoric man.

Watch live experiments, such as extracting DNA or making a toothpaste fountain. Bring the toddlers to the Maxi Ooh! area on the first floor, containing walls with sensors that create a virtual realm of different senses. Enjoy snacks and refreshments from the small café.

There is an entrance fee, with discounts for kids. Guided tours have an additional fee. The museum opens Tuesday through Sunday from morning until early evening.

Find Il Museo delle Scienze in the the Trento city center. Walk here in 10 minutes from the Piazza del Duomo using the pedestrian underpass. Visit nearby attractions, such as the Fratelli Michelin Park and the Monumental Cemetery of Trento.
