Great stop before hiking Mt. Kili. Loved the restaurant and pool. Neighborhood behind was safe to go for a jog. Manager and staff were fabulous!!

This hotel is beautiful and the staff are so lovely. Two things that surprised me is they charge for everything in USD, and you are paying US prices. When I went to check out and pay for some things in shillings, they didn’t follow the up to date conversion rate, the property had their own. It felt a little sketchy.

Your feedback has helped us to realise that it may be due to the communication of our team that it may have come as a surprise. For this reason we are in the process of reviewing, training and improving accordingly. What we should have communicated to you during your stay to explain this, is that in recent times we changed our pricing to USD to make it easier for our guests. Majority of the time the guests spend their initial nights at Chanya Lodge, not allowing them enough time to exchange money to pay in Tanzanian Shillings. In addition, as the Tanzanian currency is in thousands we experienced after receiving continuous feedback that guests felt overwhelmed in paying in "thousands". We do apologise that the conversion rate may differ from the daily rate that appears online as we follow a monthly rate provided by the Bank of Tanzania.Your feedback has been extremely valuable in helping us improve our guests' experiences therefore many thanks to you. We stayed at Chayna Lodge for 2 nights before we climbed Mount Kilimanjaro. The staff was amazing, especially Omar. He was so kind and helpful for our entire state. When we left to hike mountain, they were kind enough to hold onto our luggage and put our personal items in a locked safe. The property is beautiful and well cared for. the breakfast buffet was great and included an omelette station. I would definitely go back and visit.

The people that work at this hotel deserve 10 stars! Professional and very accommodating in every way imaginable. They make the property what it is. The restaurant food is delicious but a bit pricey for the area. If you’re staying in Moshi or intending to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro, I definitely recommend staying here. Our favorite part about this hotel were the workers & the food!

Excellent staff, good a la carte food (buffet not so good). But the rooms are not exciting for what you are paying. Partly this just seems to be northern Tanzania, where everything is charged in dollars and overpriced. One day when the hotel was almost empty, management turned off the generator without saying anything to save some money. They didn't come round with a discount.

Apologies that our buffet and rooms did not meet or exceed your expectations. In order for us to understand better and on ways you think we could improve these, may we kindly request you to get in touch with us via email with more information, we are very happy to constantly learn, evolve and improve.Regarding the generator - we (the whole of Kilimanjaro region) are recently facing a considerable amount of power cuts several times a week up to 12 hours per day. Although we have a power back with a high capacity generator, it cannot be continuously run for a long duration of time, hence it may have been switched off. We try to plan sensibly considering energy efficiency and our WiFi and communication systems work on a battery system, not relying on the electricity or generator. The information regarding the generator usage is noted in the information books in each room, although we apologise that this was not communicated verbally to you during your stay. We regret that these matters during your stay were not raised to the management who had the pleasure of meeting you several times; which may have allowed them to take possible actions immediately.Apologies for any inconveniences however we look forward to hearing from you and welcoming you back again, giving us another opportunity to create your wonderful stay.
