When we arrived we were disappointed as we were told the pool was not open as it was seasonal , yet the next morning as we were leaving there were people swimming in it!
The grounds were unkempt and the grass around the pool looked like it had not been cut for over a month … a far stretch from the “ sell” of an immaculate property on Expedias website .
We had a room over looking the pool and after retiring to bed were woken up at 23.00 hrs by someone washing up below us and crashing plates and cutlery around until 00.40 . We went downstairs and asked them to politely stop as they were keeping us awake , but they carried on regardless , so we had a dreadful night sleep. We were travelling through France as part of an extended trip so we had a lot of other hotels to compare with and certainly will not be returning at the extortionate prices charged here.

Dear Sara. I guess our experience wasn't much better either. Sometimes you just know that people have booked the wrong place as they are unhappy from the moment they step out of the car. You could have known about the pool as it says all over our website is closes octobre 1st. Of course we don't mind if a courageous guest wants to swim in 17 degrees water, I guess they wouldn't have mind if you had joined them on Sunday morning. Rather than swimming you booked the sauna and steam bath but never showed up, booked a set menu but decided to cancel last minute when the food was ready to be served in order to stay in your room instead (in which you might have indeed heard the washing machine rather late as some guests requested a late dinner due to a huge delay upon arrival). As for the garden I do apologise for the mess; wild boar have invaded the property desperately seeking for water due to climate change. Not that it matters to you because you won't come back, but we have since installed 1km of fence keeping wild boar out next season and our garden "immaculate". We also decided this year in favor of a more wild garden, trimming grass less often during extreme weather conditions to prevent it from burning and help all kinds of insects survive. You can see we are not on the same page and that is fine with us, we have long ago accepted it is impossible to please everybody.

Felt like we were being watched over by the owner. Unfriendly and more an air B and B than hotel. V expensive for what is was and would not recommend.

Dear Chris. Not sure if unfriendly is the right word. I guess it is more of a miss match which is ok I guess. You are right about not being a hotel, because we are indeed far from being a traditional hotel. We welcome guests in our private home with as many high end hotel facilities as possible for a 10 bedroom operation; pool, spa, gym, beauty treatments, dinners, an art collection, honesty bars, bicycle rent etc. As for being watched over, we do indeed take great care of making sure our guests behavior does not affect other guests and as in every home there are some rules as we come to understand that it is naive to think people will always do the right thing without a bit of guidance.

The place is very secluded and beautifully kept. We received a warm welcome from Johann who had put extra thought into making our stay wonderful. Every request was accommodated and done so with a smile. I highly recommend this place!
