Great for a visit to George Sand's house at Nohant
Posted 27 Dec 2017 on HotelsWe stayed here for a night as it is well-placed for a visit to George Sand's house at Nohant. This is a traditional French country hotel although we were allocated a room in the modern extension across the road. Good and secure parking. Friendly reception. Room was spacious with access to gardens, fixtures and fittings in bathroom perhaps in need of a slight refurbishment. Evening meal from the fixed menu was excellent and inexpensive, breakfast in the morning was equally good. Would definitely stay here again.

Budget hotel
Posted 21 Aug 2016 on HotelsWe spent a night in the Lion d'Argent as it's conveniently located only 4 kms from George Sand's museum in Nohant. The reception was kind and efficient, they offered to book a table for us in the restaurant downstairs. The budget room was quite clean, although it smelled humid and was in need of updating. No fridge/minibar as promised, no wi-fi signal in the room. I imagine the rooms in the garden on the other side of the street are more modern and better equipped. Still, a good budget option if you just need to spend the night and don't expect too much.

Good Hotel, great staff.
Posted 11 May 2016 on HotelsWas House hunting in the area and this was a perfect base, the town has many facilities that are all close to the hotel. Great staff, very welcoming and tried hard to make our stay good. Breakfast was also much better then the average in France.

Pleasant enough for a stopover
Posted 1 Sep 2015 on HotelsNice little basic hotel in a pleasant little town which is worth strolling around.
Ideal for a family stopover in the garden rooms.

Comfortable overnight stay in La Châtre
Posted 4 Jul 2015 on HotelsExceptionally friendly welcome from all the hotel staff we encountered. After a good meal in the restaurant, we finished our bottle of wine sitting on the terrace outside our room. The only negative point for us was the location of the hotel on a busy roundabout on the outskirts of town.

Average
Posted 25 May 2014 on HotelsEasy to find on the way into town. Welcoming reception, who knew I was coming and expected me. But tired-looking corridor leading to ground-floor bedroom, with distinct smell of cigarette smoke from one of the rooms. The bedroom was OK but had double-pane windows and no air-conditioning. I couldn't open the window because the security light outside was too bright and came on randomly. Dinner was OK and well-presented; breakfast buffet was very good.

Mon séjour sait bien passé, mais je trouve le prix élevé pour la période.
