Exclusive Monterrico getaway

Beautiful and isolated modern-style hotel, with a large and clean infinite swimming pool right infront of the beach. Open spaces everywhere with ocean view, where the sound of the waves can be clearly heard.

Great family hotel - VERY remote and secluded

Posted 16 Jun 2017 on Hotels
The pool at this hotel is AMAZING. We swam all day each day. There's a bar/restaurant and the food and drinks are good but pricey - by far the most we've paid in Guatemala. Make sure you've planned your transportation to/from in advance because arranging transportation is not something they do much of there (again unlike elsewhere in Guatemala). But, once I found a company, they happily called and made the arrangements. The beds were incredibly hard and you had to go to the office to switch out towels every time you needed a dry one - a small inconvenience, but drove me crazy. El Faro is clearly trying hard to be high end and the property is very nice, but there is no access to anything else unless you have a car. They didn't offer a shuttle or anything to the little town and the few other places we read about (and we didn't ask). They did stuff like mow the yard right by the restaurant the whole time we were eating breakfast. Again, a small thing, but there's a pricey meal that wasn't enjoyed. I got the feeling that we were among the very few who ever went there without their own car. The wifi is good. We loved the little porches off every room. We sat out there as much as possible. Fantastic view!

Pros: Staff is very very professional, helpful and friendly Everyone has a smile on their face and willing to make guests as comfi as possible.
Cons: Beds are pillows are not comfortable. WIFI in room missing
This hotel has great facilities and is family orientated. Like 10K away from the Monterrico town. Fair priced menu. Kids menu very nice too.

Amazing

I actually had my doubts because the pictures looked incredible, we drove trough iztapa and into Monterrico when we first saw the El faro sign and we took a left into a dirt road in the middle of pashte fields, then we finally saw the huge gate, as the security guard lets us in the parking lot we started seeing how beautiful the hotel really was, not to mention the gorgeus front desk staff, the check in was the easiest and fastest I have ever experienced, as she showed us to our beautiful room, we walked through the pool area, at that point I knew I was gonna have a great time. The owners thought this out well, from the design to the towels and sheets, very nice place. They have a great food selection, but there still work to be done, they have the idea but they have to improve it, I ordered ahi tuna, they must of froze it and attempted to rapidly thaw it out by stick in the microwave, but that just cooked it, when this dish is well known for being served raw, but over all the food was good. I have to congratulate the bar tender at the pool, the guy just killed it with every drink I asked for, well made with quality liquor, mixers and made from scratch lime juice, best micheladas, margaritas and pina colodas I have ever tasted. The pool is huge and great for the whole family, i could be drinking, swimming, relaxing at the room's front porch or eating at the restaurant and always have my kids within site.

Beautiful on the beach but lacks modern amenities

Posted 21 Jul 2016 on Orbitz
For a hotel so far from central monterrico, it should have more things to do. The lack of wifi and tv and the seemingly unimportance the staff placed on not providing it was frustrating. An expensive hotel should be better prepared. One hour with some guy in our room TRYING to fix something that should have been done the night before we arrived. Really? There were 20 rooms available and we got put in the one that didn't work with no care at all about my 8 year old sons wants. I got told while checking out,"the room next door is available" Too little too late by then. it is perfect for those who want to do nothing but relax near a beach in a beautiful hotel, but not for those who expect technology as well.

Modern beach front hotel.

Posted 12 Jul 2016
My family and I were happy to have enjoyed this contemporary hotel. Every one on the hotel staff deserves recognition for an excellent service. The pool design and social areas are well thought out and the rooms as well. Originally planned for a two night stay and we were really happy to add an extra night to our trip. You won't be disappointed.

Lovely venue

Posted 25 Jan 2018
Pros: The view, the pool, the rooms
Location: Located next to the beach.
Hotel El Faro is a beautiful hotel by the beach with a big swimming pool and a pool bar. The staff at the restaurant and bar were excellent and helpful. Also the cleaning staff was very nice and cooperative with cleaning hours. Our problem was the management of the hotel. The manager would not let all members of our group to check in to the hotel as the hotel had some connection problem with Expedia. Note: the room was reserved and payed a year in advance and the confirmation had been sent to the hotel. Yet this was made our problem, which we obviously could not solve as we do not work for Expedia. The manager also discarded agreements on prices to enter the pool (for friends staying outside of El Faro) and services included in the payed price. Without these problems, our stay would have been beyond expectations and the hotel would have been a true value for money.

Hieno hotelli merenrannassa

Posted 21 Jan 2018
Pros: Puitteet upeat, henkilökunta todella ystävällistä ja avuliasta.
Cons: Kukaan henkilökunnasta ei puhunut englantia. Totuimme tosin käyttämään Google-kääntäjää ;-) ja opimme siinä sivussa muutaman sanan espanjaa :)
Location: Itse hotelli on kauniilla paikalla meren rannassa.
