This place is truly amazing and apart from the location, cleanliness, facilities and amenities, the staff are what make it so so special! They are caring and kind and warm and professional, they deliver a unique wellbeing experience! Shanti Som is small with only 15 rooms but that is what makes it extra special, it is just like staying with family. I can't wait to go back.

Tranquil and a beautiful location

Posted 12 Nov 2017
Pros: Peace and quiet a.k.a Shanti with a good attempt to mimic Asian principles of spirituality.
Cons: Bigger rooms. May outside courtyard could have a covering or citronella candles to keep the wasps away and better lighting at night.
Location: Not much to do nearby. This location is a sanctuary and great if you want to get away from your busy life.
Awesome sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle of life. Rooms were small, but balcony views were great. Expensive Spa treatments, but worth it. The main bad experience was a guy mowing the lawn in the middle of the afternoon nearby the main Pool when we and other guests were trying to relax! It was so bad that it became comical! :)

Ideal quiet retreat in a lovely setting

Overnight relaxing stay away. The hotel is VERY quiet so ideal for getting away to relax but not if you want any buzz.

Great retreat if you want to get away from it all

Posted 3 Dec 2012
Pros: Double bed was large and very comfortable
Cons: Despite providing a kettle in the room no coffee, tea or milk were provided only herbal teas - everything was geared for healthy living
Location: Set in the mountains, along a very poor access road, well away from it all, lovely position
Had high hopes for this hotel but found it to be a wellness retreat and not a hotel as described on website. Despite advertising that it had a spa we found this to be untrue what materialised was an outdoor pool (unheated), a sauna and a steam room which was out of action during our stay. Rather disappointed considering the cost of the room, also as we stayed towards the end of November and found the Lounge / Restaurant to be very poorly heated. Mealtimes we found to be very late, 09.30 breakfast, lunch from 13.30 and evening meal from 19.30 onwards. All in all a lovely place but certainly not what we were looking for.

A little but of Heaven at Shanti Som

Posted 26 Jun 2012
Pros: The overall serenity of the environment, the 'nothing is too much trouble' attitude of ALL the staff and the exquisite food.
Cons: I loved everything
Location: Mountain setting far enough away from any other town/houses to feel isolated but close enough for short drive to town if need to. Idyllic.
Without a doubt the most tranquil and serene holiday we ever had. The staff, food, atmosphere and venue were outstanding in every way. Set in the mountains a short drive away from Marbella and to various other small Spanish villages. Also a short drive from good way marked hiking routes of various lengths/difficulty levels and Shanti Som staff very obliging in making up packed lunches. Left feeling very healthy, calm and reinvigorated.
