1. The morning of our arrival I received an email saying that they would accept payment in Mexican pesos (i.e., cash, no credit card). I didn't have the pesos but we went anyway, expecting to get to a cash machine. There's only one in Celestun, and it didn't work. They finally accepted US$.
2. We had booked and confirmed two beds. There was only one bed. They pointed out a sofabed (unmade) and said that it was the second bed (they pulled out the bed and finally made up the "second" bed.
3. There was no hot water in the bathroom sink (had to go to the shower faucet for hot water). The water from the toilet leaked onto the bathroom floor.
4. The receptionist was unfriendly and totally unhelpful.
5. Celestun clearly has a crime problem: ten-foot walls topped by barbed wire is the norm for the hotels beyond the town center, which appears to be safe.
6. Celestun's "biosphere" is basically mud flats. There is no "ranger station", no trails. The only "attraction" is renting a guided tour for 1.5 hrs to go see flocks of flamingos. There are other places in the world to see these birds (like, Florida).
7. Avoid this hotel and the town. If you want to see the flamingos make it a day trip from somewhere else (like, Merida).

Hi Benjamin, I am very sorry you were not able to fully enjoy your trip to Celestun, I guess you didn't read the destination and room descriptions you booked, nor the payment methods we advertise on platforms such as Orbitz or Expedia. Celestun is a fishing village, there are no banks in Celestun, which is why many businesses in Celestun only receive payment by cash. In the description of the room it says that it has a queen size bed and a double sofa bed. We never mentioned that there are two beds and we never received any request from you or from the platform where you booked, in the room there is hot water but we had a problem with the pipe we had to close the passage so that there was no water leakage and that is why you felt water on the floor. The fence wall that we put up is not for insecurity but rather to protect the property from animals such as dogs, cats, raccoons, opossums, etc. that in the past have fallen into the pool or scared our guests. In Celestun there are several activity options not only the boat ride, there are guided bike rides to see the salt ponds, there are bird watching tours, hiking tours, tours to Real de las Salinas, night tours to see crocodiles, a variety of restaurants offering fresh fish and seafood dishes, and a wide variety of restaurants offering fresh fish and seafood. For the same reason I believe that the reason you did not enjoy the wonderful and magical Celestun is because of the little information you had when planning your trip. Still, we thank you very much for your feedback and hope you find the magic that Yucatan has to offer.

Hello! we gladly received your reservation, however, the property has some rules that have to be followed in respect for other guests. Nudity and skinny dipping in the property's pool is not allowed as well as is not allowed to scandalize the public areas, specially when other guests are around. Our staff respectfully and professionally asked to cease those attitudes but since the anwer was not positive from your side, we had to evoque our admission rights and told you kindly and respectfully that we wouldn't take the reservation and that we were accepting the cancellation for free to avoid any further bothers to both parties. We are surprised that you decided on purpose to avoid writting the full story, our staff was never rude and the other guests that were present agreed that our staff was right since they witnessed it. We suggest you to make sure what the property's rules are before booking any place in the future.

NO LO RECOMIENDO
Posted 22 May 2022 on HotelsNo recomiendo esta posada para nada toda mi experiencia fue un desastre desde el inicio: solicité al número la ubicación porque no sabía bien donde era y nunca me la mandaron, luego de que llego al lugar pasé como 20 min afuera para que me abrieran la puerta. Cuando llegué la chica que nos recibió y durante toda la estancia no fue amable… en la habitación: durante mucho rato de mi estancia no hubo luz y agua. El aire acondicionado no funcionaba bien. A la piscina se veía como le ponían todos los químicos, limpiaron el alrededor ( con nosotros ahí) y el agua con jabón lo tiraban en ella. El desayuno un desastre posiblemente con 400 pesos desayunas rico en otra parte.
No obstante con todas las deficiencias que tuvieron durante a mi estancia no tuvieron ninguna consideración con mi tiempo, llegando la hora del checkout me dijeron que tenía que entregar la habitación.
Lo positivo que tiene el
Lugar es que el mar era muy bonito y afortunadamente no había mosquitos

Hola! realmente lamentamos que su experiencia en Casa Bre Mar no haya sido lo que esperaba, nos esforzamos a diario para que nuestros huéspedes tengan una estancia maravillosa y tranquila. Desafortunadamente el destino tiene altibajos en la energía eléctrica de forma constante y toda la comunidad se ve afectada. Por otro lado, siempre ponemos a disposición el número de teléfono y la mensajería por varios medios para comunicarse con la propiedad, además de contar con un timbre en la entrada principal. Sus comentarios serán tomados en cuenta y los usaremos para mejorar, esperando nos brinde la oportunidad de poder ofrecerle una mejor experiencia.

Posted 22 Jan 2022 on HotelsStedet var rigtig flot indrettet, og meget rent. Men ejeren/værtinden var Ikke særlig imødekommende/serviceminded. Hun hverken hilste eller værdigede os er blik. Det føles næsten som man ikke var velkommen.
Det var også irriterende at man skulle have fat i hende hver gang man skulle ud eller ind af deres port, i stedet for at få en nøgle. Deres internet i værelset var meget ustabilt og langsomt.

Es un lugar muy lindo y de personas amables, pero tienen una extraña práctica de limpieza que señalan que es por prevención de COVID: limpiar cada dos días las habitaciones, cuando debería ser lo contrario
Por otro lado la señal de wifi es muy inestable y no hay en las habitaciones, solo en zona de alberca

Hola Gerardo, agradecemos mucho tu pasada estancia y tu preferencia. del tema de la limpieza probablemente quien les recibio no explico correctamente, podemos hacer limpieza cada dia pero nuestra recomendacion es hacerlo por intervalos para mantener el menor contacto posible. el tema del WiFi, lamentablemnte es un problema de insfraestructura hemos querido meter señal satelital pero los proveedores aun no cuentan con las instalaciones para cubrir el area de Celestun, la poca señal que nos llega es porque el proveedor manda su señal via radio, como habras visto Celestun es un lugar muy bello pero la tecnologia es muy deficiente, pero seguiremos buscando alternativas para satisfacer esa necesidad.
