Grand villa in lovely setting. A bit remote.
Posted 5 Oct 2018 on HotelsThis is a grand villa in a lovely setting off the beaten track near the uninteresting town of Menfi. It was raining when we were there so we could not enjoy the pool. Room was comfortable. We chose not to eat at the villa and drove to the seaside town of Sciacca, about 30 minutes away. The staff and especially the owner were gracious. Enjoyed a very nice breakfast in the pleasant dining room and headed off to Selinunte.

Lovely place. Beautiful views of the country side. Staff are enthusiastic and provide great service. Owner is a friendly
lady and made us feel quite at home.

great time in the vineyard/olive trees
Posted 20 Jun 2017 on HotelsHotel was fabulous and while quite challenging to find, the staff could not have been more welcoming or hospitable. We arrived late but they offered us an amazing dinner (which we initially didn't think we needed but WOW - so delicious) - room was very pleasant and the windows provided ample cool air so that we didn't need AC. Pool and surrounding area was lovely. highly recommend as a frequent traveler who has rather picky and high standards when traveling. Excellent!

Great country place to stay in Southern Sicily
Posted 20 Sep 2014 on HotelsThe entire baglio has been restored in first rate fashion with a high quality winery added by the Lanzara family. Rooms are very distinctive, food and service are top quality.

Beautiful authentic place

Pros: Vineyards and courtyard
Cons: You have to laugh, Italians love to charge for everything separately. Why not just add to price of room
Location: Although very hard to find, if not impossible, fantastic when you get there. Located within vineyards and olive trees
An excellent find. Took my husband for his 40th with our two young daughters just for 3 nights. We arrived late and thankfully the owner came and met us in Menfi, otherwise I'm not sure we would ever had found it.
If you're looking for an authentic place which is clean, friendly, has character then this is perfect. We ate there two nights, great wine collection, all produced in their vineyards. After a day at the beach, only about 10/15 min drive away, the pool was a delight. Would recommend dinner/lunch at Vittoria's at Porto Paolo.
We're planning another long weekend there in August

Wonderful for a first time visit to Sicily
Posted 8 Jun 2013
Pros: Sicilian hospitality
Cons: Bedrooms a little basic
Location: Good location to all western sites: Valley of the Temples, Segesta, Erice. A little hard to find initially.
Superb Sicilian place to stay in the middle of nowhere - but close to everything!
We did not have a problem finding it, but did our homework before we went - and had a printout from google maps with us, as sat navs do struggle to find it.
We stayed in the duplex for three nights which was perfect for our family - two day beds and shower room downstairs and a double bed with wardrobe on a mezzanine upstairs. Very spacious and impeccably clean, however the shower itself was extremely small but not unusual for Sicily apparently.
Wifi was available in the guest lounge but not the bedrooms. Breakfast was traditional Sicilian cakes, bread, fruit, cheese and meats, with local honey and jams. Fresh, wonderful and plenty of it. We did eat in the restaurant during our stay, again enjoying traditional Sicilian dishes and wine produced by the vineyard - no pizzas on the menu which was good to encourage youngsters to try other dishes!
The owners were very welcoming and kind and gave our family a tour of the vineyard which was wonderful education experience for our teenage girls.
The swimming pool area was lovely but unfortunately we did not have warm enough weather to try it out.
I think the bedroom would have benefited from tea and coffee making facilities - other than that a very lovely place, a little pricey, but a real treat.

Baglio San Vincenzo - a quiet country retreat.
Posted 20 Jun 2011 on HotelsThe map on the hotels.com website is completely wrong. The hotel is not in the middle of Menfi but in the countryside about 5 km to the north. Other websites show the correct position. Once found, this hotel is in a delightful and well-maintained property in the midst of vineyards and olive groves with superb views of the countryside and the sea. We were there for a couple of nights and received a very warm welcome from the owners and staff. The hotel boasts a new and sizeable swimming pool. No Wifi but limited internet access in the office. The menu was slightly limited but the hotel remains excellent value for money and well worth a visit.

Posted 15 Sep 2019 on HotelsPoints positifs :
- Cadre (au milieu des vignes et oliviers)
- Piscine très bien entretenue et très grande
- Parking Gratuit
