Sweetwater Inn and Spa is a lovely, large, comfortable, cozy studio apartment. A full sofa neatly separates the bed/living area from the kitchen/dining area. The round dining table comfortably fits 3 people. The full kitchen is well supplied with pots, pans, etc. They deliver breakfast muffins every day. A gas fireplace cozily drives away the evening ocean chill. A large screen TV accesses lots of channels. The queen bed is comfortable. Good quality linens. We have free access to sauna and hot tub. All units beautifully set in lush gardens. And, the inn is walkable to restaurants, museums, hiking, the ocean, quiet beaches and a grocery store. This is a lovely, quiet retreat.

The sweet water tower was the best. Use of the public spa and redwood tubs during after hours was well worth having to go down a flight of stairs for the showered and bathroom

Posted 28 Jul 2024 on HotelsAlmost all individual units, great not sharing a wall with another noisy guest. Fully equipped kitchen, grass, flowers, housed far off the street—all good. Two good restaurants and spa only a few steps away down a path—also good.However, management of this property apparently does not believe business is best enhanced by flattering and coddling guests. Guests are scolded about everything from water use to washcloth use to dishwashing. I want inn keepers who treat me like an honored guest, not one who sees me as a threat to his bottom line. The water use concerns, in particular, were disingenuous. If ownership were truly worried about “every precious drop of water,” it would not be operating a spa on this property.
Don’t expect much service from on-site management. Hunter Biden worked longer hours for Ukraine than does the management of Sweetwater.

Thank you for your review. We always appreciate feedback from our esteemed guests. We're sorry you felt "scolded" about our reminders to conserve water here where the supply is limited. We simply ask our guests to be mindful of water usage while enjoying their visit at our Inn, Spa, and Vacation Rentals. We don't differ from other Mendocino businesses in doing so. We feel it's a small price to pay for being in Paradise.Our Spa has been in operation for 40 years and continues to be an icon of "older" Mendocino. It may seem contrary to have a spa where there is a water shortage. We think that's what makes it such a luxury to soak in a redwood hot tub under Mendocino skies. We ask our guests to keep their showers short as always. And yes, we do charge when our linens and towels are misused and beyond repair, reasonably.We hope we have another opportunity to welcome you with all we have to offer at Sweetwater.

best little retreat
Posted 12 Dec 2023 on Hotelssuch a gem! we stayed 2 nights here to spend a day at orr hot springs (we had a dog, who we rover'ed). from check in to muffins in the morning, everything was so lovely! the spa in the back was amazing; call ahead if you want to book a massage. and definitely go to luna trattoria (through the garden gate) while you're there!
