Could do better on the cleanliness part

1. There was no service at all! During our stay, we never met any single staff in person at all! So no management at all!
2. The room is like a prison cell! They don’t clean your room!
3. There is no hot water in the shower! It’s winter in Melbourne! Only one of the two shower rooms on the second floor works! Even that working one does not have hot water!
4. The bathrooms are dirty and filthy! You can smell the stinky smell the moment you enter the building!
5. The kitchen is super dirty and messy! There is no paper towel to clean it up!
Please don’t come to this place! It will your be worst nightmare!

Thanks for posting your review!We had multiple conversations on the phone about your stay. You requested many things and for everything we could provide the hostel did. The hostel offered a full refund because we couldn't meet all your criteria and you declined the refund.We clean private rooms upon checkout unless requested.We have hot water and heaters in all rooms. I have not received another complaint about this issue.Yes, it's winter in Melbourne!Our bathrooms and kitchens are cleaned on a daily basis. We supply cleaning products for guests but do not include paper towels for environmental reasons.As mentioned previously and over the phone multiple times, South Yarra Hostel offered a full refund which was declined. The hostel is located in a nice neighborhood with lots of shops, restaurants and bars, next to a park and getting to the CBD is easy. The only drawback is that light switches are vandalized in some restrooms and showers.

Good location and staff is super nice. Hostels aren't great in Melbourne, but this is one of the better ones.

The bedroom was sufficient but there was a bit of unnecessary furniture that cluttered the room. The showers didn’t hold their temperature at all and there was nowhere to get changed except for in the shower itself, which didn’t lock. Overall it was fine for our holiday as we didn’t spend much time there.

Thanks for your review, every room has a desk per guest to allow for Laptop use or eating meals in their rooms. We were unaware about the showers not holding temperature and will rectify this in the coming week.

I booked to stay in dorm and it was upgraded to double room since the dorm was full and I didn't need to pay more charges. I really thank for it.

Location and facilities are good.
Property doesn't provide a towel as standard and there is no one at reception outside of standard business hours.

Thank you for leaving a nice review. Towels are provided upon request and at no extra charge unlike other Hostels.
Reception hours are stated upon booking and we are contactable at all times out of regular hours. We believe that providing our guests with more of a home than a hostel feel makes South Yarra Hostel different and more welcoming.

Also having South Yarra Train Station within 5 minute walk giving our guests quick, easy and direct transport into the city (CBD). We are thrilled that you found South Yarra Hostel so comfortable and spacious that you made it your home for your stay in Melbourne. We always try to ensure that all of our Guests get a good nights sleep and are really happy that is was quiet and peaceful each and every night! Our WiFi is fantastic and available throughout the building and at high speeds.
