Location was fantastic but the night time felt alittle rough for a family with kids. The room had so much character with two levels and charming little balconies. It really is a cool hotel but definately could use some upgrades. Staff were wonderful.

Fantastic location but the rooms are a bit dated and in need of refurb.
Quite limited hours for reception.
Brekky staff were great.

We were impressed with the front-desk staff by the name Carmen, who displayed commitment in helping us to check room availability when we arrived rather early in the day. She was empathetic and concerned at all times whenever we approached the counter with questions. We are also grateful to the cleaning staff, a young Asian lad who carried out a great job. The check-out staff (not Carmen), however, did not appear to be aware of the the $100 deposit to be returned to us, therefore training is needed on this point to all staff.

Great location and comfort but needs clean up work
Posted 10 Oct 2024 on HotelsI picked the Alto Hotel because of the central location, just around 5 minutes by walking from the central station where the SkyBus stops coming from the airport. Also, it is a great location to explore Melbourne CBD and even any other neighborhood using public transportation easily accessible in the area.
The rooms are spacious enough, with nice services and a comfortable bed.
Nevertheless, the hotel needs to work on the cleanliness of the rooms. My room had several balls of hair and dirt, and the worst part was that they remained there even after they supposedly cleaned my room during my stay.
It is the only hiccup I suffered during my stay, but it is a significant one.
Regarding the staff, they were all very professional and friendly, helping me continuously during my stay.

Late check in was a bit of a nightmare especially after a long flight. Staffing in the hotel seemed quite minimal. There was no breakfast on offer but there are plenty of food outlets nearby. The room was fine for one but would be a bit cramped for two

Pretty grubby on reception and breakfast area. Room was fine for what we needed - quick stay. Wouldn’t rush back
