Our family of four stayed one brief night in Riad Meknes as a stopover during a drive from Tangier to Merzouga. While we didn’t have too much time in Meknès or the riad itself, we did enjoy both the town and riad. Our room was spacious and we loved the lovely decor throughout the riad and the interesting layout. We had a quick dip in the pool and wished we’d had more time to use the garden courtyard.
We did get lost in the medina while trying to find the riad to check in - and Google maps had a role in leading us astray - but we only found it thanks to some kindly locals showing us the way. I’d advise ignoring Google maps and making detailed arrangements with the riad on how to find it in advance of showing up.

Absolutely beautiful!
Posted 27 Jun 2018Close the all the main sights in Meknes. Beautiful grounds and friendly staff. Food is much better quality than Riad standards. Very pleased!

Pool is empty
Posted 18 Jul 2017 on HotelsIts a pretty good hotel if a little hard to find. Problem is the pool is empty and hasnt' been filled in some time. They need to post honest photo's so more guests aren't confused.

Palace, excellent classic cooking
Posted 5 Jan 2017 on Travelocity
Pros: Like nothing I would ever experience otherwise. And the dinner was excellent.
Cons: It is what it is. If you don't like old stuff and chilly spots, not for you. If you want to experience a 400-year-old palace, this is it.
Location: Adjacent to the Medina, and a flourishing life right there. Everything is available.
Slightly faded palace, with nooks and crannies, and cool old stuff all around with lovely furnishings and immaculate bedding and seating areas in the ornate and unique rooms. We were there first days of January and all the spaces were cold, but wall heater plus space heater and heavy blankets helped. Really a rare place...I would recommend it for the experience. Like staying in a museum. We had dinner there the first night which was truly exceptional, without fuss but a classic preparation from the eight different salads through the sumptuous chicken tagine to the coconut macaroons and tea for dessert. This was the best cooking we had in the 10 days and 5 cities we visited in Morocco. It is a destination spot.

Good to see but not stay in
Posted 28 Oct 2016 on HotelsMy first impression was good but wait until you stay there. I regret the time I booked the holiday. The room is very spacious but probably hasn't been cleaned from dust for a year. Everything smell of dust. The bed, pillows, carpet, floor, and furniture.
The bathroom is disgusting. My wife made a decision nobody is allowed to take a shower that night and we should wait for next stay in fes. The shower is disgusting. The toilet is clean but smell. The basin is broken and look dirty.
The food in the restaurant is good quality but probably over priced for morocco. Couscous meal 110 Durham. In the square 50 dirham but the cats sits below the table awful.
The breakfast is free but very very basic
I have no intention to go to meknas again but if I do I will not stay there again.

Nice stay if you don't mind the walk
Posted 15 Sep 2015 on HotelsHard to find and a few minutes walk away from the next street accessible to car traffic. Min. 10 min walk from main plaza. Very nice and quiet setup, even including a little swimming pool. Great breakfast and nice service, although very little English spoken. Our room door was difficult to completely close from the inside - no latch, just a padlock - and otherwise would leave a sizable gap for all kinds of insects to come in when we had the lights on after dark. Leaking water faucet, few and improperly installed electrical outlets, and missing shower curtain on the negative side.
