If you are looking for a unique place close to Kruger then look no further!
What makes Highgrove House truly magical is probably a well kept recipe. If I had to describe it, I’d say that you’d need to mix the hospitality and welcome of staying with family with a well polished high end establishment. Combine it all with the fact that you’re dining in a period mansion house. Top it up with a good measure of peaceful countryside atmosphere and you have the rough recipe for this unique place. I’ve stayed at quite a few high end hotels but these sometimes feel a bit impersonal as they have so many guests. Highgrove is a much more intimate setting and the owners get to know you and they truly care about making sure you have a wonderful and stress-free experience. The room I stayed in was an executive suite which had a balcony and an outdoor shower. It was so beautiful
Of course my favourite part of the stay was the food (I love eating), I dine at Michelin star restaurants and this place really is comparable to that. Everything I ate was fresh and combined incredible flavours. The thing that I thought was remarkable and which even high end hotels or restaurants don’t always get right is that here they take into account your dietary restrictions and don’t just pretend to adjust the menu, they come up with dishes that don’t make you feel that your dietary restrictions are an issue and they ensure that whatever you’re eating is equal to what other guests are eating.

The property is fantastic. It is a classic vintage hotel property that reminds you of a another era but is maintained in 5 star condition. Highly recommend. The staff and dining were excellent. The only slight negative is the approach road is unpaved and a bit rough but not so bad as to deter one from staying here and enjoying an exceptional experience.

Must admit that we had expected more. Although service was very good. Room was spacious with very comfortable bed. But overal it was somewhat outdated and it didn’t feel like we were in SA but more at a traditional country house in England. Also we didn’t have a private plunge pool as said on the booking. Because there where only a view guests, we sometimes felt a bit uncomfortable.

Outstanding Hidden Getaway
Posted 26 Oct 2017
Pros: Service, friendliness, high standards, privacy, luxury, surroundings
Cons: We though the standard of food for the evening was a little hit and miss, some courses were excellent, some not of the same level.
Location: We simply stayed at the hotel - why leave when engulfed in beautiful surroundings? Plenty to do locally.
An astonishing gem hidden away. Completely private, outstanding service and standards. Private lodes set in beautiful grounds, absolutely fantastic 2 day stay of outstanding luxury and peacefulness after a two week bush safari.

Great Luxury - Affordable Prices
Posted 26 Aug 2016 on HotelsThis was a wonderful stay. Location was relatively close to Kruger Park and Sabi Sands where we ended up going to after here. Close to Hoedspruit for ballooning and Blyde Canyon sights and waterfalls. Very close to Elephant Whispers. Should have own or arranged transportation to fully take care of the location. Would most definitely stay here again if in the area.
Pros:
Beautiful rooms done in a more classical style
Very friendly staff
Our package included both breakfast and dinners. Food very well done. Selections are cooked to order from menu. Dinner was a five-course meal.
Very beautiful grounds.
Cons:
It is about 8 miles from Hazy view but is on Google Maps so we had no problems getting there. You must travel half a mile? On a well maintained dirt road which most cars should be able to handle.

5* boutique hotel with 1*manager
Posted 13 Jan 2016 on HotelsA major concern - the attitude and skillset of the manager. We have traveled across 5 continents, usually staying at 4* or 5* facilities in recent decades. . Full review is on tripadviser. There are positives and more details
1. Hotel driver showed up 40 minutes late.
2.No welcome drink was offered as specified in the reservation
3. Were given a garden room, NOT the orchard room we had reserved.
4. At dinner, the manager told us it would be better for us to leave at 9 am. Then she said we would have to pay an extra R574 for the 11am departure, DOUBLE the rate quoted.
