The only problem I faced is the level of English with the staff. They can easily introduce the rapid translator to make life easy both for customer as well as staff

Smell is a very little but it can be cleaned to take badly odor.

Nice place to stay, with great connections to the tram, very close to the castle ropeway, museums and shōtengai full of shops and places to eat. The only thing that would make it even better is having a parking on-site, but there are many convenient options nearby (you would be able to leave your car for 5 minutes in one of the two drop-off places on the back entrance to leave your luggage on the lobby on the top floor and get directions to the associated parkings). The onsen on the top floor was super nice and having views of the castle from the lobby and our room were some of the highlights of the stay
