A real gem

Pros: Lovely hosts; very clean and tidy; great location; free parking.
Cons: Nothing they can do but, as there is no vehicle access to the B&B, it does mean that suitcases have to man-handled up some fairly steep, rough steps.
Location: Matera itself was just a wonderful experience - not to be missed. Just explore the area of the sassi, admire the views and enjoy the food and drink.
A great three-room B&B just a few minutes' walk from the centre of the sassi area and from a variety of cafes and restaurants.
The hosts were very welcoming and took a pride in maintaining the property to a high standard. The room was clean, light and of an adequate size for our purposes.
Breakfast consisted of local cheeses, meats and pastries - as much as you could eat.
The B&B itself is located in a small "street" - there's no access for any vehicles and so it's a quiet location.
Free, on-street parking is available in Via Casalnuovo, on a lower level to the rear of the property. The street is marked for residents only and I wasn't sure if we qualified or not, but the hosts said it wasn't a problem - and it wasn't!

Perfect

It's near free parking and in a very central location but still in a quiet part so you'll sleep very well. The place itself is very well maintained and the room was lovely, very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was very nice and the owners very friendly!

Convenient clean B & B
Posted 29 Sep 2016 on HotelsVery enthusiastic young couple who own this beautifully restored historic house in a perfect location to visit the town of Matera. They did not speak much English, but whipped out their google translate for a very lively and enjoyable visit, including an amazing full breakfast of local produce.

Bien placé en ville, mais bof !
Posted 4 May 2023 on HotelsChambre d’hôtes bien placée au coeur de la vieille ville, mais difficile à trouver, et accès nécessitant de franchir des escaliers ce qui peut être compliqué pour certaines personnes, sans compter les valises à porter ! N’accepte que les paiements en espèces, ce qui ne facilite pas les choses, sans compter qu’on ne voit plus cela nulle part ! Manque d’oreillers dans la chambre (1 seul oreiller par personne). Bon petit déjeuner avec des produits locaux… que l’on prend sous le regard des maîtres de maison qui restent plantés derrière leur comptoir… Bref, ce n’est pas la meilleure expérience de notre voyage en Italie !
