Il Chiostro, a former monastery is a 75 euro taxi ride outside Sorrento, at least that is what we were charged. Maria is very helpful and friendly but be aware, there is no bus service to the Relais and it is a 600 metre steep uphill walk from the main road. Impossible if you have luggage. The only practical way to get to Sorrento is by bus walking down and up the hill unless you rent a car or scooter. There are no restaurants in the vicinity although Maria can arrange a free ride to and from a restaurant in Annunziata, a village relatively close by. The rooms are small, the bathroom is good for one person at a time. It is peaceful and quiet, breakfast is adequate but think carefully if this is the right place for you. In the end we were ok but I can’t say this is what we expected.

Thank you. We always recommend our customers to rent a scooter or a car. Before coming to us. It is the best way to enjoy the Sorrento and Amalfi coast

This was one of the highlights of our 10 day tour of Italy. Antonio, the manager, was exceptionally friendly and engaging. The converted monastery was beautifully renovated and very comfortable. This is a perfect base to visit Sorrento and/or ferry to the Amalfi coast or Capri.

This out-of-the-way hotel was a disappointment. The pictures don’t represent the general decrepit and shabby nature of the place. At the dead-end of a small village road, it was very tough to find (small sign just next to the front door) and inside a pretty run-down cloister/monastery. While the concept of staying in a unique place is appealing, the overall experience wasn’t great because the execution is off.
The highlight was the friendly staff, cleanliness of the room and check-in area (despite some funky bathroom doors), and room AC in a very hot time of year. The lowlight was the bad Wi-Fi, small/cramped bathroom where we had day without functioning water, and the general condition of the property. Be prepared to lug all suitcases up an entry ramp and then two flights of stairs. Also, Friday is market day and we needed to park our car 450meters away the night before (otherwise car is towed) which wasn’t ideal on the day of our checkout.
I don’t want to give a bad review but feel like I need to be honest so that others go in open to what this property is and isn’t.

good morning your review does not deserve any response because all the defects that you have found are indicated by us that is during the booking phase to avoid that the customer when he arrives in our structure may have disappointments. unfortunately you must know that in Italy there are laws for the restoration and recovery of certain historical places and consequently it is not easy to be able to apply these regulations and to carry out restoration work, which we have managed to do inside of the rooms, but not on the building (it would take millions of euros) but that Italian law absolutely prohibits being able to modify it. unfortunately it is not our fault if you have not read all the characteristics that we send already in the booking phase including that of the market which unfortunately is not something dependent on our will. however I like to remember her drinking drinks on the terrace and complimenting her on the structure and the breakfast, do we have any falsehoods? last thing: the photos are more than truthful. Bye

A very tastefull hotel in an ancient cloister
Posted 2 May 2019 on HotelsA really beautiful place with an amazing view from the terrasse to the sea!
A very interesting experience, the hotel is situated in an ancient cloister. As soon as you enter into the building, you feel like in a completely different world. There's a garden inside the cloister and our room was giving a view on a typical lemon garden outside. The whole hotel is very clean, well maintained, decorated with lots of taste!
The girl on the reception was really nice and gave us a lot of advices. She spoke very good English and French, and the owners of the hotel speak English as well, so it was very simple to communicate.
The only but: a church is still working, so you'll be probably woken up at 5 o'clock in the morning with the church bells, and again at 8 o'clock or something like this. The isolation from the corridors was not very well, so we've heard a group of guests shouting in the night.
But everything else was great! I'd stay here again if I visit the Sorrento area once more!
