The room’s heater was turned off when we got there (outside temps were near zero) and it took quite a while for the room to heat up. Breakfast was average— pancake machine and oatmeal crock were not working. Hotel was under construction with cold air and dust in hallways. Room was clean and staff nice.

Staff was nice, the location was great and room was generally clean. My complaints come from the fact that nowhere during booking did it say that they were undergoing construction. This included the pool that we were unable to use during our stay. Breakfast was also lacking options. The usual variety we have come to expect from holliday inn express were not represented. Options of omelet and bacon with some type of bread and yogurt were all there was. The pancake machine was broken :(

Had a lodge looking style which was very nice and the minute you walked in the door, you had beautiful views of Lake Superior through the dining area! We hit peak foliage time and it was stunning! Drawback was that even though we got there early in the day, we could not change our room to one with a balcony (even if we paid extra) because we got our room through Expedia. ☹️ Only a 5 to 10 minute drive into Munising. Another drawback is that the parking area is below the hotel, so whoever drives has to walk up several flights of stairs after dropping off their passengers-if needed.
