Standard onsen hotel with no surprise. The indoor onsen is a bit disappointing. The rooftop outdoor onsen is more attractive but is available at limited time of the day. As such, I prefer to visit the public spa which is free and 2 min walk from the hotel. Meals are standard and the biggest compliments should go to the friendly staff. Room is spacious and tidy.
Great hotel that I love to stay again.
The hotel is clean and neat and tidy. It has history but it is not old to me. Meals are great and room are large. During my stay, there is one staff who can speak mandarin. Another one or two can speak general English. Other can only speak Japanese. This is normal as that area is not famous for foreign travellers due to the transportation.
Onsen is great - this is important for lady visitors but not quite relevant for males as most of male visiting that area will visit the free public open air onsen near the dam. “Male” was emphasises as the onsen was a mix bath. Although ladies could cover themselves with towels, the gentlemen using the onsen will not.
Locations or convenience will not be quite relevant for hotels in that area as there is literally nothing to shop. There is even no convenience store unless you wanna walk for 20mins +.
