Manilva is a charming white village in the province of Malaga that stretches across hills divided by a number of streams. Behind the village, looking towards the sea, stands the impressive geological mass Canuto de la Utrera.
If you have planned holidays in Manilva, save a day or two to explore the route that crosses its unique landscape. The starting point is in Los Llanos, to the north east of the village. From there, the limestone path crosses vertical rock walls known as “canutos” and leads to the spa baths Los Baños de la Hedionda and the small chapel of San Adolfo.
The village of Manilva is also home to many buildings and spots worth visiting, such as the parish church of Santa Ana, an 18th-century temple built by the village’s inhabitants. Our cheap trips to Manilva will enable you to appreciate all the details.
The municipality stretches down to the sea, where you’ll find the emblematic castillo de la Duquesa, a castle built in 1767 on top of a Roman villa. This old fortification, also known as the fortress of the Sabinillas, formed part of the coastal defence and had four canons.
Currently the fortress is home to the village’s archaeological museum, where various elements from the nearby Roman archaeological site are on display: ceramics, amphorae, personal items, pottery, etc. The excavation site also contains the villa, a necropolis, thermal baths and an area for salting fish, all from the first century AD.
If you're looking for peace and quiet and to relax in the sun, Playa de las Sabinillas is the perfect place, a beach with all the services you need as well as a lovely seafront promenade.
