Clean, small, good value.
Posted 31 Jan 2019 on HotelsI stayed overnight only before getting on the Mandalay ferry. The place was small and very clean. Good for one person but a squeeze for two. The service staff were willing but incompetent. They couldn't find my booking and had no record of my payment. They failed to book me a car from the airport after promising to do so. However, all these things were fixable and my tuk tuk was ready and waiting in the morning.

Not all it first appear!
Posted 18 Oct 2017 on HotelsFirstly on arrival looks very nice, then on closer inspection needs a lot of TLC,they advertise lots of things included like city view(none)tea coffee facilities in toom(none)bottled water(none)mini bar(none)robes and slippers(none) Says has bath and shower, no bath, in fact none of the things they say they have and are included actually are...they're none existent! Complete false advertising! When tried to ask about this the staff unhelpful initially and said not their fault, they would change me to better room(to a better standard which I paid for) but wanted to charge me more, then said my booking wasnt paid for at all but it clearly was! Free wifi advertised as 'all areas' again not true, it's occasionally in the lobby and restaurant...when it works at all...Free dinner? You have 2choices, rice or noodles and have to pay for drink with it , even the free water and tea/coffee they advertise...ask for a taxi, they tell you price, then it's more when it arrives. After several compliments on all of the above, some of the staff very attentive and did try to provide what was booked and paid for. It if you're not one to speak out then you get a room with a wa and nothing included as they say. Breakfast was ok, cooked food breakfast and dinner all like warm at best. I was only there two nights or I would have moved hotels for all the hassle it took to get what was supposed to, or even close to it...streets filthy, smelly, waste food and flies, floods too when rains, be warned!

Be careful, you may have to pay double
Posted 6 Apr 2017We booked 2 beds in 4 beds dormitory for 2 nights (4-6 April) and paid the price of 20+USD.
When we arrived,
the reception said there was a mistake made by Expedia (or may be themselves but definitely not by us).
The price we paid is just for 1 person for 2 nights (which means 10+USD per night). They ask us to pay 20+USD more and look down on us by words asking us "do you think it's possible to pay 5+USD per person per night?".
It's actually possible as they are selling private room for 20+USD. We agreed to pay if they will give us private room but then again they said it's full and we need to add 10USD more per night to get the even better room.
Be careful if you book this hotel.
The boy at the reception is quite well-trained to insist you to pay more and more when it's not even your mistake.
No e-mail inform is about this earlier at all, it may be what they plan to do to charge more money.
Other than that, location is good, hotel is clean and other staffs are friendly, trying to help the best they can.

Not A Quiet Hotel
Posted 20 Aug 2016 on HotelsI have stayed here three times over the last two years and usually find it pleasant! However, Nasa's business model is changing and lots of tour groups now with mostly Chinese guests. I was put on 17th floor in very small room and had to listen to other guests slamming doors until 2am. When I approached the front desk and also called, nothing was done. Lobby is overcrowded and loud with the tour groups so stay somewhere else!

we had 4 nights at the Golden city hotel, we were on the 4th floor (meals on the 6th floor) and for two days of the 4 the elevator did not work. On our return to the hotel on the second day they told us it was fixed only for us to be stuck in it for about 10min on the 4th floor until my husband forced the doors open by pulling them apart. When I told the staff they found it rather amusing. Would not stay again.

Excellent staff , genuine and helpful
Posted 3 Jan 2016 on HotelsHotel is situated slightly south of grand palace. One could walk there in 30min or take a cab like we did.
The staff is the gem of this hotel, they go extra miles to help us to book taxi, day trip and our bus ticket to Yangon.
I would rate 110% for the 3 girls working in reception. Thanks a lot for ur help.
