Nice venue in need of a new Chef/
Posted 21 May 2018 on HotelsNice, quirky hotel with a very warm welcome and helpful staff. The disappointment was the dinner! It was all rather over-priced with puddings at £6.95. While my seafodd pasta was lovely one in our party had an in-edible steak and a couple of people had badly-cooked aspsaragus - char-grilled and woody. We went elsewhere for dinner on the 2nd night.

Weekend break
Posted 24 Apr 2018 on HotelsThe hotel was lovely and had everything we needed. Staff were very friendly and keen to be of assistance. The garden area was nice and quiet and the rooms were clean with lovely views.

Top notch New Forest Hotel
Posted 30 Dec 2014 on HotelsWe went for a one night 'Get away from Christmas'. The owner,Tim and the reception staff have a wonderful can-do attitude. Our room (15) was right at the top of the hotel with masses of light, huge proportions and immaculately refurbished - Can't wait to revisit and see the new bar/restaurant & public areas after their January refit.
Well done Tim & the team!

I thought this was a hotel not a B & B

Pros: The dinner in the evening was very nice.
Cons: Don't have guests to stay whilst refurbishments are taking place.
Location: Tucked away in a general housing area. Nothing to do other than walk.
I booked this hotel knowing that it was currently through some renovations. What I didn't expect as a single person travelling was to be placed up on the top floor with three other vacant rooms all currently being renovated, mine being the only room not being worked on and which was very dated sort of thing you would expect in a bed and breakfast house. And guess what, it was right outside the out dated caged lift. everything outside the room had a nice layer of dust on it. But the room was clean, out fashioned, but clean. Nice touch was a piece of shortbread and muffin under a glass dome. When the workman had finished at the end of the day, the rooms were sorted and guests moved in. What I saw, these newly renovated rooms looked great. So don't go into room no 11 unless its been renovated, or unless you have a fettish on caged lifts! Food was lovely, gardens pretty, but there is absolutely nothing nearby to spend your money on. Wont be going back there that's for sure.

Manor hotel in the new Forrest
Posted 12 Aug 2014
Pros: The staff and the grounds
Cons: The price of the rooms should include breakfast
Location: In the new forest with plenty of walks and not far from Milford and beach
The hotel is a little dated they are revamping it the room we had was newly decorated but they didn't do the finishing touches no mirror in room to do make up and hair no pictures on walls or cushions and throw on bed like in the photos or bulbs in bedside lights saying that when we mentioned about light bulbs& mirror they did put it in room they said the room has just been done but rang out of time to do finishing touches which is fine if your told about it.the hotel is now called the manor at sway with new owners which has plans for the future saying that the grounds are lovely and has a swimming pool and the staff were very pleasant and helpful.
We only had breakfast at the hotel which was or local produce

Quiet central location for walking the locality
Posted 3 Aug 2014 on HotelsHotel may be a little worn and in need of a refresh but we enjoyed fabulous food for dinner. Spacious room with great green views. Lovely village and short drives to other similar villages. Can begin walks from here or short drive to a multitude of options.

Thought it could have been better for the money
Posted 31 Jul 2014 on HotelsNice location, new owners trying to improve the hotel, costly for area as compared to others, nice room, shame about being at the top of the building, slopping ceilings over the bed and bath. NO pillow cases on bed, hot water supply very very poor, memtioned both of these to the owner who did not seem to be worried that much. Resturant again expensive for the area, menu could be enlarged, did not like being charged £90 for the room then £12 each for breakfast that was nothing special, would we stay again, probally not
