Nice staff. Hotel has a nice pool and relaxing area. But it all goes away when you you realise the hostel has bedbugs, which got in my luggage and I am currently suffering its bites and trying to get rid off. I found a bed bug in the room the morning I was leaving, I pointed this out to the staff, they said they would deal with the problem. The issue is The problem was transferred to me, and I will end up spending way more money than what I spent at the hostel.

Favorite place in Zambia

Posted 2 May 2019 on Hotels
This place is amazing. It’s my favorite place to stay in zambia and in the region actually. The people are so incredibly friendly and kind, the facilities are clean, the place is safe, and has everything you could need. The 8 bed dorm is comfortable, has mosquito nets, there are enough showers with hot hot water and good pressure, there are lockers, laundry, self catering kitchen, and made to order kitchen if you don’t feel like cooking. The food is quite good here too and affordable. There’s tons of communal outdoor space to sit around or get work done, with plenty chargers and electrical outlets. The location is great as well. Down the road is fresh produce from a lady in a red stand, and less than a mile away is the main bus station and levy mall with multiple grocery stores and a pharmacy. The bar at backpackers is fun as well. It’s open air, has great energy, affordable drinks and snacks, and has pool table and pool right there. Overall this place is great and I would never want to stay anywhere else in Lusaka. Unless it’s booked up. Then I stay at wanderers, their sister property, which is equally nice although a bit more quiet and different location.

Perfect Place for Fun on a Budget

Posted 13 Mar 2019 on Hotels
Lusaka Backpackers is an excellent choice for budget accommodation during a short trip to Lusaka. There is a self-serve kitchen and also food can be ordered throughout the day for affordable prices. The dorm rooms and bathrooms are nice and the bar and swimming pool area are a great place to relax and hang out with other travelers. An easy walk from the downtown Lusaka area and bus station.

Your 1-Stop place to stay in Lusaka

Posted 31 Jul 2017
Pros: Central, friendly, super service, good beds and HOT showers.
Cons: Nothing that really comes to mind.
Location: The location is very central to everything. Walking distance to a huge shopping mall and to the Great east Road local city bus service.
I am a travel agent and was in Zambia on an research trip to see what was possible there. Lusaka Backpackers are super central and really go the extra mile to assist! The owner, Kim Farmer has so obviously been a backpacker herself and has left no stone un-turned to provide everything you could ever need. There is good FREE secure wifi, a computer for guest use (a bit slow but gets the job done), washing done @ K25 per load, on site excellent restaurant with great food and even better prices - really no need to eat elsewhere. The self-catering kitchen has everything you could need. Showers have just been refurbished with really hot water. Rooms have good beds, clean bedding and huge mossie nets. Lockers for safe keeping of your valuables (bring your own lock), an iron (Really? Backpackers iron stuff?). The bar has good prices and a pool table where you will meet some of the expert local players, the pool is not huge but really nice with lots of seating in the courtyard. Camping facilities are not here but at their sister Lodge - Wanderers - also centrally situated. There are dedicated taxis right outside the door with fixed prices and will not rip you off. The best part is the friendly staff and Kim herself who at all times of the day is ready with all kinds of information you could possibly need. Talk to them about any other arrangements you wish to book and she is guaranteed to get you the best place and deal in Zambia! We loved it!
