We booked through Expedia. When I called to change our reservation the hotel looked us up and said we would have to go through Expedia. We decided to keep our reservation “as is” after seeing the penalties. When we arrived, the hotel couldn’t find our reservation. I shared with them I had called 2 days prior and the staff had looked us up in there system and confirmed us over the phone. The front desk staff was unhelpful and rude and didn’t even speak to us as they continued typing in their computer. They told us another time they couldn’t find our reservation, so we searched through emails and provided our confirmation information. After searching in their computer for a few more minutes they found us and told us we were there on the wrong dates (we were not and showed them our confirmation email to prove it). Without discussion, they started calling their “sister property” to see if they had any space. We said we did not want to go to another location (we’d spent 12 hours traveling and wanted to go to bed and also the sister property was a lower quality property) so they put us in a room which was not what we booked or paid for (downgraded us). The room smelled like mold and the smell was coming from the AC/Heater unit. There was also black mold covering the bottom of the bath mat. After suffering through the first night on one of the worst beds we had slept on, we actually went to a store and bought a foam mattress topper. Never using Expedia or Best Western again.

Quick and easy check in. Convenient location, pet friendly, and decent breakfast. It’s the only place we stay when visiting Lufkin.
