Join in the fun at one of the best-loved beaches on the Costa del Sol, Los Boliches Beach. This dark-sand stretch of coast is rarely quiet, and its dynamic atmosphere is typical of the lively, youthful spirit of Fuengirola. Enjoy the calm waters and take advantage of the excellent facilities as you spend a day basking in the sun here.
Walk along the 3,642 feet (1,110 meters) of the beach’s length and you will soon get an idea of just how much is going on here. While the waters are relatively gentle, there are also plenty of opportunities to get active on the waves. Visit one of the nearby water sports facilities to see what activities are available.
Alternatively, chill out in a rented sun lounger or hammock. Enjoy the shade offered by a rented umbrella as you drift off to sleep, lulled by the sounds of the sea. Bring a book to keep yourself entertained, or join in one of the energetic games of volleyball that regularly take place along the strand.
Note that the beach has won a Blue Flag Award several times, signifying that it is exceptionally safe, clean and well-maintained and has outstanding facilities. You can feel reassured by the presence of a Red Cross lifesaving post. Other facilities include showers and public toilets.
Bring a picnic to enjoy on the sand at lunchtime, or treat yourself to a meal with an ocean view at one of the restaurants located directly on the beach. If you would like more choice, head up to the city center, which is located just a few minutes’ walk from the sand.
Reach Los Boliches Beach easily from anywhere in downtown Fuengirola. Stay in one of the many hotels and apartments scattered throughout the central part of the city and you won’t even need to drive to reach the sand. Remember to bring your camera to capture the beautiful views of the ocean, which is a lovely deep blue color.
