I have stayed at several PALIHOTELS and have liked the uniqueness and location..This place is cool on the outside but has some issues.. The room has old carpeting, it smelled, I had to open windows, the no stall shower like other locations.. Got there at 1am one night and hotel was locked up with NO INSTRUCTIONS on how to get in… finally someone answered the call box and buzzed us in.. $52 overnight valet was excessive and SLOW!!! sat am, (9:30am) no valet around, luckily I kept keys to car ..
Bon voyage…

Palihouse is a great way to experience Santa Monica. It’s just a couple blocks to Ocean Avenue and the Promenade and a doable walk to the Pier. The staff is friendly and helpful. The hotel and grounds exude 1920s charm. There is an elevator but if you are truly stair-challenged it may not be the best choice. For everyone else Palihouse Santa Monica offers an enjoyable and memorable experience.

The check-in experience was fine. The hotel was as expected for an older “boutique” hotel. The experience the morning of departure and for the following 72 hours (still ongoing) has been nothing short of horrible. I began itching while in bed at the Palihouse from 2 am until 6 am when I finally got up and showered - still no relief. The evening after my departure I was diagnosed with a chewing louse (lice) infestation. My doctor has been treating me with multiple insecticides but I’m still in significant discomfort and isolated to a room in my home to prevent spreading it to my family and contaminating my home. I called the Palihouse Hotel the day after my diagnosis on Saturday 09/07 and asked for a manager but was told “he is out but you can call back on Monday”. … this was after sharing the diagnosis. My response was, “How about I give you my number and the manager calls me? I was in room 112 and want to know what you can do to make this right?” - Still no call… I would think that a public health concern at the hotel you are managing would warrant a call, even on a weekend.

Nice but not luxury
Posted 21 Aug 2024 on HotelsLobby and grounds are beautiful but hotel is a little quirky. No liquor license if you want a drink at the hotel, and minimal staffing. Lots of character throughout - our room had a full kitchen, breakfast nook, walk-in closet and ante room for make-up/dressing.

Ok time
Posted 19 Aug 2024 on HotelsIt was a nice room. They need better service in regards to room service (1.5 hr wait for coffee) and coffee bar had very limited hours (need to leave to get water and food).

Property was beautiful, room was a good size and very clean. Decor and overall vibe was nice. Staff was friendly and helpful. The location was great. Easy to walk to bars and restaurants or to the boardwalk/beach. It was a warm night without AC. The room had large windows to open to let in a breeze but this offered little to no privacy. Screens were in disrepair and the neighborhood was a bit noisy at night, but overall experience was good. Glad we tried it out but not sure it’s worth the price. We were charged for valet parking and the vehicle was too large for the garage so we ending up paying the parking fee for the valet to leave the vehicle parked on the street near the hotel. Had we known, we would have found a spot on our own and saved the $50.
