Great location and wonderful staff. Very convenient to large central parks (Kensington/Hyde) and tube station. Only complaint was the room we had was in the basement and the room is damp (bathroom a bit mouldy) and dark. Other rooms in the property have been renovated and this room will hopefully be on the list one day too (even a fan in the bathroom would be an improvement).

Very pleasant staff especially Sarah. Only hotel I have ever stayed in where there was a wall outside bedroom and bathroom windows blocking the view. Like a Fawlty Towers episode. Rot on the single glazed bedroom window. Dirty glass on bedroom and bathroom windows. Cold room on our arrival early evening. Hotel fully booked so could not change room. Wife had to go to bed to get warm. Very little heating from radiator in the morning. No soap in shower dispenser. For my wife’s 80th birthday I booked this hotel because it was advertised as a ‘boutique’ hotel. The room was not at all like that shown in the advert. Other London hotel rooms would have been cheaper but the advert deceptively indicated that our room at the Abbey would be special. Far from it.

It was pretty decent place to stay for a few nights anything longer and it would have been unbearable. The property was just old and outdated, there was no shower curtain and the tv remote didn’t work at all but it was a mostly decent place to sleep and close to a lot of things to do.

great location! Easy to get anywhere in London using the underground and also walkable to Hyde park and notting hill!

Pros: close to portabella market, close to the tube that gets you around the city, bed was very comfortable. Room very quaint with the decor. I would like to mention my daughter stayed on the property and her room was in the basement.. would not recommend this room. Not comfortable, and seemed dingy and not very clean. Outside the hotel entrance patio there was a pile of trash like a mattress, and furniture.

The lower ground double rooms do reflect their location in the price as being lower ground there is not as much light as you would find higher in the building. Just to make you aware the patio trash you are referring to was items we were awaiting the following day to be collected so this had to be left out side so guests were not disturbed in the morning by us walking the items through the hotel.

Great location. Toilet was broken in the room so we had to downsize to another room, luckily one was available. No elevator. Staff was helpful to resolve issues. Rooms were old and musty smelling.

Very helpful and uniquely supportive staff. Look past the I'll tempered kettle to see the rare gem this stay is.
