Horrible
Posted 17 Jun 2024 on HotelsAs soon as I turned the corner and seen the state of the surrounding area I was happy I didn't fill the van up so if it got nicked they wouldn't get far. Rough is an understatement - and I'm from Salford!
Got a pint and googled stab vest retailers, none nearly surprisingly.
After what seemed like an hour she sorted parking permit for 11 quid and I was shown to my room. As soon as you walk through the first door it reeks and I was dreading the next 12 hours. Room was a bit sparse with a kettle and a fridge but no milk (cheers) used a grim shower and went spoons for some food. The residents opposite are so loud at night I didn't get a wink, some fool constantly putting rubbish down the chutes, cars speeding about with music on and then the bin men finished the shambles off. Don't bother

Clean room, helpful staff...would definitely stay again

Exceeded my expectations.
Posted 20 May 2024 on HotelsAt the last minute I needed to find a room for the night so I could attend the second day of a conference when a colleague couldn't make it. Representing a charity the price needed to be as reasonable as possible. The Hour Glass hotel and pub fitted the bill; despite having been a little dubious before I got there.
Checking in I was escorted to my room (and the staff member offered to carry my bag for me). I had a twin en suite. The room was quite large. It had a window I could open, and the bed much was much more comfortable than the more expensive hotel is been in the night before. I had a refrigerator, kettle, plenty of coffee tea and biscuits, good quality white towels, and access to a separate kitchen (between10am and 10pm). They were happy for me to order food to be delivered to the external door downstairs. Once I'd checked in I wouldn't have needed to go into the pub again as the side door was used to access rooms. There was a lock-box for keys on checkout (I had to leave very early).
The pub obviously served the local community. On the Tuesday night I was there it was quite.
I felt safe and the answer to the obvious 'bottom line' question of would I stay there again? Would be yes.
If you were keen to explore "South of the river" it would be an ideal place. Bus stops are virtually outside the door and buses seemed to be quite frequent.

We are sorry that you were not happy with our accommodation however can you please elaborate why your score was so low? For a little rate we are offering plenty of free services like: flat tv with DVD with over 100 channels ,bedding and towels as well as all toiletries in bathrooms, free internet, coffees and teas, refrigerator, USB plugs, central heating, fan plus access to fully equipped kitchen. Sorry, but we are taking this low score to our hearts and obviously we are not happy at all. Look forward to your reply. Kind regards

This is not hotel but a junk and bad environment. If you looking for hotel and decent environment don’t do it and clean hotel and a place you can sleep with your two eyes close

Dear Guest, We are sorry you were not happy with our accommodation, however we think that your comment is hugely unfair and hurtful, especially with this very small price tag you paid for very nice and decent room. Also we showed you to the room and you had no issue then, so we rather surprised with you negative feedback. Kind regards

Good Option for Last Minute Booking
Posted 16 Oct 2022 on HotelsThis hotel is perfectly fine. It's definitely no frills, but certainly comfortable enough. It was well within our price range for a last minute reservation. We checked in later at night and the staff made us feel very welcome. The pub can get loud sometimes as can the neighborhood around it. The wifi was available in the room and in the pub and was always reliable. It's about a 15-20 minute walk to the nearest tube station, but a very short bus trip with several busses running regularly right out in front of the hotel. Strictly pub related: this doesn't seem "family owned" any longer and it certainly does not offer any kind of pub food outside of crisps. There's a nice variety of beers and the staff are friendly as well.

Dear Ashley, Thank you for your kind review and feedback. The place is still family run, but is half term at the moment and all our kids are with us on little break :). Unfortunately we do not have much facilities for food offering but we do offer our beautiful fully equipped kitchen for our guests' comfort. Kind regards
