Long Check In. ALL GUESTS NEED ID!
Posted 25 Nov 2017 on HotelsPhoned from train to find out about key pickup. Arranged 3pm outside Tescos at Victoria Dock where someone would meet us. We were there at 2.55pm. At 3.20 nobody had arrived. Phoned again contact. They would phone their staff member as he could be in building. 10 to 15 minutes later voice from building shouted my name. He was our key contact. Went into reception. Where he left us to take other customers to room who had been waiting for a lost key and had been waiting for over an hour. Our contact went to go and deal with them and he said to us “back in 10 minutes”. He came back approx 10 mins said are you ready. We got up and he said oh just a minute I have something to do. 10 to 15 minutes he was back to take to room. We were quickly shown around the room then he realised had forgotten to take ID and deposit from myself as I booked the apartment. The breakage deposit was taken. Then he also wanted ID from my mum. She did not have any ID on her as she was not driving and does not carry it with her. This was not mentioned for all guests. Said she is my mum, he said I could be a terrorist for all he knew. She said you are joking now. He phoned his boss who told him to get me to phone home and get a photo identification sent to my phone. I did and had passport photo sent. For him to photograph. She felt she was treated like a criminal. It took over 1 hour to finally get our room. Once in the apartment it needed some maintenance. Overall this spoilt our stay. We will not return.

Not well maintained and very loud
Posted 2 Aug 2017
Cons: Clean and maintain everything better. Don't take pictures of credit cards/ID's or require reading credit card info over the phone.
Location: DLR Train station very convenient.
Room layout was okay and was very spacious, but lacking in maintenance/cleaning. Rugs were stained/dirty, something was splashed on the wall with no apparent attempt to clean, smoke detector hanging from wires, mildew on the grout in one of the showers and the two sliding windows in living room wouldn't open.
A loading dock is across a narrow street so every morning at ~6am the truck backup alarms, engines, and unloading woke everyone up. The apartment is also in the flight path of London City airport (0.3 miles away) so the jets climbing out were frequent during the day and loud enough to require raising your voice to be heard.
They require taking a picture of an ID and credit card with a mobile phone and to read credit card information to someone they called for the security deposit. This is an absurd security risk and every other apartment we stayed at either had a real billing/credit card system or gathered the information via a secured website. I wouldn't have stayed there if I had known this ahead of time.

Stick to hotels if on business for short stay.....
Posted 13 May 2017 on HotelsThe place was fine, other than no toilet roll was provided. However this is not for a businessman looking for a one night stay and wanting to check in and as as required. I did not see this stated on Hotels.com but I was bugged for ID and copy of credit card and then a deposit both leading up to and on day of arrival. It then turned out that checkin had to be booked in advance and the. When it changes(as it did with me) I was told I could not checkin till allocated time. All in all a stressful situation after a busy day, waiting outside the door trying to phone someone to see if you can get in. I will stick to standard hotels in the future. It looked fine for a longer stay/holiday.

Perfect for Excel
Posted 24 Apr 2017
Pros: Views, modern, comfortable beds and clean linen and bathrooms.
Cons: Windows need some maintenance e.g. Lounge one didn't fully shut. Bedroom window screwed shut. Mobile number to phone staff to check in!!
Long wait and several phone calls to get someone to check us in. However staff friendly and helpful. Apartment modern, needs some maintenance. Dishwasher and oven could do with a good clean. No baking trays for oven, no frying pan, no tea towels, only two small saucepans. No good if you are planning to do some self catering! Heating system a mystery, was 26c in the flat when we arrived, turned towel radiators off and set "heating" to low (5c!?) and still said 26c ... so way too hot to sleep. Great location for Excel and O2 arena.

Firstly, they requested for credit card CVV number to secure the deposit over the phone which is do dangerous. Secondly, washing machine, toilet lightings and living room lightings were blown eg. toilet had 4 light bulbs 3 were blown, called them to change till we check-out did not change. Thirdly, the carpets were mouldy. Four, the room window/door handle were broken so unable to air the room that were stuffy. Fifthly, the stand lamp was blown too which also did not repair. Lastly, the bed frame was not strong that it made alot of noise when getting into and out of the bed. Very disappointed with the service and the apartment.

roomy and comfortable
Posted 2 Mar 2017 on HotelsOverall, I had a great stay. There are just a couple of things I would like to say. I'm not a resident of England or Europe, so how things work that may seem "obvious" to them were not to me. I wish there had been instruction manuals on how to use, for example, the washing machine. There were some weird things. For example, on the night tables on either side of the bed were night lamps. However, there were no power points for them. The hair dryer was mysteriously located under a duvet on a top shelf in the closet of the bedroom.

Convenient location for excel centre
Posted 28 Feb 2017 on HotelsHotel was lovely however located in a private building so hard to get in touch regarding keys. Kitchen was cleanish but dishwasher still full of dirty cups and microwave was scruffy looked like it hadn't been cleaned at all. Heating didn't work so it was extremely cold on and evening and the balcony didn't open. Also wifi is meant to be free but never worked.

Perfect for the O2. Check in was more straightforward than expected. Problem with wifi but they fixed it after a few hours. Tesco Express underneath was handy. Ideal for quick break for a gig at the O2 - right opposite the cable cars.

After reaching hotel, I found out that it was an apartment in a building. A polish guy came with a key and asked me to show my passport & credit card which was used for booking. This was OK to confirm me, but later he insisted to click my passport's picture and the picture of my credit card. I refused since this could be non-PCI compliant but then he showed me pictures of all the previous guest who stayed in property (this was even more non-compliant) as he was carrying ID & card information of previous guest on his phone.
Anyway, he mentioned that he would not allow me to stay unless I would let him click picture of my passport & card.
I already made a verbal complaint to Hotels.com about this weird procedure this property carries out, to pacify me they gave me a discount coupon of EUR 35 for my next visit and assured me that they will talk to property people. Hotels.com asked me to write a compliant in writing but due to my busy schedule I never got time to do so....my bad.
He took the picture and then later made phone call to a number and read out my card number to a person on the other side to make a deposit of GBP 250/- on my card which he said is only a security deposit and will later be refunded. Later, I found an email also which said the same but until now no refund has been received?
