"Have stayed here many times. Always consistent. The restaurant is good and the staff is very friendly. Ask for Jose. David has limited restaurants that may appeal to American tastes. If you are visiting I suggest you try Boquete where you will be pleased. If spending a few nights in David then Alcala is certainly acceptable. I have lived here for 4 years so I have a little experience in these things."

However the AC in first room didn't work and they immediately upgraded me to a larger room and I had no problem. Note that the hotel is on the second floor and there is no elevator."

The staff was super friendly and very timely with any questions I had. I had a small efficiency and there is a nice grocery store one block away. "The hotel was close to the bus terminal, which is what I wanted. The only complaint I have is the restaurant hours. They open at 7am for breakfast. I went to the restaurant at 6:55 to find to personnel in the lobby. I asked about a coffee, but that wouldn’t be ready for 20 minutes. I learned that if you open at 7am, you’re prepared at 7am for service."
