Sandy beaches don't get much better than the one in Løkken: a wide beach with fine white sand looking over the North Sea. Løkken is a beautiful town with fishing boats and bath houses contributing to its charming atmosphere. The town also has an array of restaurants, bars, galleries and museums.
The town was originally a fishing village. It then became a focal point for trade with Southern Norway and where goods were transported back and forth. Its location on the North Sea coast has always been very significant for the town, and this is still the case today as tourists flock here to enjoy the beach.
Spend your days enjoying the sea and sunbathing on Løkken Beach. Visit the Løkken Museum or the Kystfiskerimuseet (Coast Fishing Museum) if you are interested in learning more about the town's history, and try fresh plaice, cod or lobster from the North Sea in one of the town's restaurants. Take a trip to the Rubjerg Knude Lighthouse, just north of Løkken, and stop by at the Family Farm Fun Park with your children on the way back.
Løkken is busy all year round. There are special events in December and around Pentecost, as well as flea markets every Thursday in high season and concerts in the summer. But don't forget to also visit the older historical areas with their small fishing houses and windy streets.
Its location at the very tip of northern Denmark means that you will get to enjoy the relaxed North Jutlandic atmosphere and lifestyle whilst on a holiday in Løkken. Aalborg is the nearest city and is located about 30 miles away, so going there to wind down is easy. The simplest way of getting there is by car, but you can also take the train.
Løkken isn't just about its beach, sand dunes, light blue fishing boats and whitewashed houses: it's the combination of all this and its rich town life that will make your holiday in Løkken unforgettable.
