Hotel San Vincenzo in April
Posted 16 Apr 2017Hotel San Vincenzo
I stayed for five nights this April (2017) and I really can't fault this little hotel at all. On arrival, the receptionist was expecting me and greeted me with a warm welcome. She upgraded my single room to a double with a balcony at no extra charge. The room itself was clean and spacious, with a small balcony that faced a quiet side street. Breakfast was perfectly adequate, with plenty of choice. I will be honest and say that the eggs and bacon didn't look too appetising - but I don't eat eggs or meat, so that didn't matter to me! Throughout my stay, the staff were friendly but not over attentive - which is just how I like it. The receptionist kindly found out the train times for me when I asked her about it.
Letojannni itself can best be described as an Italian version of the faded English seaside town. Half an hour's wandering will show you all you need to see. It does have its charms however, with a couple of pleasant piazzas and a variety of restaurants and gelateria. There are also a handful of mini-markets if the notion to pack a picnic takes you. In April it was quiet and peaceful, despite a variety of work going on to prepare for the season. As a solo female traveller, it was safe to walk around at night and I felt quite at home there. Although there were lots of tourists in the town, there were also lots of Italians, giving it a local, authentic feel. The beach is directly opposite the hotel, across the road. It's a long, wide strip of coars

Wonderful staff

Pros: Located across the road from beach and round the corner from bus station. Pharmacy and post office on either side. Staff was great.
Cons: Breakfast wasn't that great.
Location: Swim or take a boat ride across the road. Rent a canoe or paddle boat. Plenty of restaurants within 5 minutes. Take a bus to Taormina or a tour.
Lovely little hotel, just across the road from the beach and round the corner from bus station. Front office team went out of their way to help us. Practically all staff members speak English. Room (booked for a family of four) was very spacious and clean.
