Nice stay
Very authentic. Lots of decor and history. Didn't take the breakfast but the nice lady made me a cup of coffee which I enjoyed while watching the mist on the river with the fish jumping in the early hours of the morning.

We really enjoyed our stay in this quaint, historic property. The town is wonderful, the restaurant was excellent, and we enjoyed exploring the castle and walking along the river. Our room for three adults was very comfortable with a very nice and spacious bathroom. Lastly, we had dinner st the Lebanese restaurant just up the street and was excellent and the Tea Salon was absolutely adorable and perfect.

A hidden gem!
A traditional French hotel, homely, not all mod cons, full of character, serving wonderful food (on the open air terrace if it’s good weather) with local wines and ciders, in a spectacular location by the River Seine close to Rouen ... our room overlooked the river, but the courtyard would have been fine ... set back off the Main Street with gates secured at night it was a very peaceful stay and great value as a base for exploring Rouen or Normandy more generally ...

Ambience of this hotel was wonderful. Truly beautiful location on the bank of the Seine, with stunning views from the terrace. The rooms are basic but well presented with a nice historic theme. The staff were friendly and welcoming in an old-school trusting kind of way. Restaurant was good, and pretty good value for the standard menu at €31 for 4 courses. But the star of the show is the setting, sitting on the terrace with an aperitif feeling the pace of life slow to the gentle speed of the water flowing by. Extraordinarily relaxing couple of days.

Nice stop on the way to Paris
Very quaint hotel in a lovely little town, situated directly on the Seine in a very scenic spot. Hotelier was helpful and friendly. Dinner was good but a bit pricey.

Old style luxury by the Seine
As we were visiting Giverny our friends recommended this hotel. Beautiful spot next to the river Seine, lovely building and decor, comfortable and beautifully decorated room. We had an excellent evening meal in the restaurant looking out on the river and watching barges pass as the sun set. However, breakfast was adequate, but very basic. We would stay here again.

Worth the stop.
Very nice location along the Seine. Hotel is very nice and the staff was friendly. We got there late in the season and most of the restaurants were closed. If we go back we will get a room with a view on the river.

Delightful hotel in Normandy for reasonable price
I enjoyed everything about our stay OTHER THAN I had trouble with WIFI reception. It may be that there is no way improve on it but that was my ONLY complaint.

Great Expectations
Two days before we were due to arrive they informed us that it would be an extra 55 Euros. Already expensive, so expected great things. Beautiful location, right on the Seine but shabby-looking hotel. Supper was good, but had to be for the money. Reserved for dinner but were placed in the reception area, as there was a large party going on in the main dining room. Would have appreciated a heads-up on the situation and would have then eaten elsewhere.

Fabulous position, disappointing service.
Hotel is in a beautiful spot and has stunning river views, however the welcome was best described as sombre and unfriendly as was service at the dinner table for a vastly overpriced meal. A number of options were off the menu and choice was very limited.

Top choice for location and service
Superb location on banks of the Seine and in heart of old town. Large and comfortable room (Chambre 3) overlooking Seine, plus large bathroom and lobby with wardrobes. Friendly and helpful staff. Limited dinner menu but 52 Euro menu (six courses) was excellent.

Boutique hotel overlooking the Seine River
La Chaine D'Or is located in the pretty French village of Les Andelys overlooking the River Seine about 1 hour from Paris by car. It is a very scenic and restful location with the ruins of a 12th century castle on the hill overlooking the village. The room we stayed in (and we had stayed here previously in 2008) was roomy with large windows overlooking the Seine so that you could watch the boat traffic travelling between Paris and Rouen. It is an old building but the rooms have been tastefully restored. The restaurant below also overlooks the Seine and serves delicious food in an elegant atmosphere. We loved our stay there in 2008 and looked forward to returning there this time. We were not disappointed.

Nice hotel, restaurant rather pricey on Sunday.
Pleasant staff and comfortable room. Good breakfast but as we arrived on a Sunday the dinner menu was limited to one set menu choice which was rather expensive. If you didn't want any of the choices in the set menu you could select from the a la carte but this ups the price further. There are however several restaurants a short walk away. There was adequate parking when we arrived and I was quite surprised to see several police cars present but don't be worried if you encounter these as the police have an office attached to the hotel. You can exit from the car park past a small garden area and you are then on a riverside walk which is nice and used by locals and visitors alike. The river bank across a grassed field seems to be the mooring point for river cruise boats which stop here similar to the Viking cruise ones. Overlooking the town is a ruined castle atop a hill. It's close enough to walk up to although a bit steep closer to the top. You get good views across the town, countryside and river. Immediately outside the hotel is the old town the new town is not immediately adjacent to this which is curious. It's walkable but will take 15 minutes. It was only an over night stop for us so we didn't bother.

Location, location. location. It's the setting that makes this a wonderful place to stay. We had river views and a fabulous sunset which made up for somewhat tired rooms and a not very engaged proprietor.

We really enjoyed the location. We were leaving from Paris the next morning and it was out of the city, conveniently close to Monet's house and garden for us to tour before our departure. Our only complaint was that the reception hostess was very short and rude. She was explaining the dinner and breakfast options but made it all sound like too much trouble for them that on that alone we decided to dine elsewhere. We did enjoy a lovely dinner and breakfast in the town just outside the door, but it would have nice to be made to feel more welcome after a long drive.
