Very Disappointed
Posted 17 Jun 2019 on HotelsVery disappointed, Not happy as was advertised on hotels.com web site as dog friendly, but the shepherds hut was not we found out on arrival. Wendy the owner wasn’t happy as we had a small dog and she had to collect payment from us it should of been paid prior to arrival. And the fact it was cheaper through you. We had also booked another night through Bartop web site, and definitely wished we hadn’t. But now already paid for had no option to move on. Seemed as if all eyes on us being watched. I was summoned to the office about the situation and when on site had to keep our dog in back of car. Or pay deep clean fee. We camped there last year with our caravan and had recommended it to our Daughter and son in law who joined us this year in their Vw camper van. The situation was ridiculous we had no toaster as previously it had been stollen not our problem. The communal are last year had microwave and tv not this year it had been taken away. Hot water was poor as it seemed only one could have a tap on to get pressure, our shepherds hut was tidy but not spotless under bin liner filthy, washing up bowl needed replacing very stained could not get clean, dish cloth not clean. Under oven dirty. WiFi no signal very poor and weak. Around the site there was so many signs about the obvious counted nine in the unisex shower area mostly don’t do this and that. Bartop has definitely lost custom from us and our daughter.

Lovely countryside escape
Posted 9 Aug 2018Beautiful location. Extremely peaceful, uninterrupted views and clean facilities. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a little escape from the fast pace of life. A perfect base, especially if you enjoy going for a walk or just want to sit back, relax and watch the sunset.
