The place exceeded our expectations. Lawrence is a first class host. The place is really quirky and well worth the money. Leeuwarden is just a fantastic base in the north of the country and we made a visit to one of the Wadden Islands with a two hour ferry journey which was splendid.

The hotel has been a family business for 60plus years and it shows jn the personal care and attention to detail. Customer satisfaction is the aim of the owners/managers.
For an economical rate this is the place to stay in Leeuwarden!

I stayed at the Anker a few times after my apartment was sold. Not only was it the most economical option for private rooms in Leeuwarden, but also for all of Nederland. Amenities vary by room type, but had a good stay in all the room types I tried. Excellent location in the center of Ljouwert.

The facility was modest but unique. Reception staff not well informed. Some mixed communication took place which was unfortunate, but difficult to pin down whose responsibility it was. Otherwise, great place to stay.

Exactly there was some miscummication. He was new and thought he was right. Endly he understood what the manager means. And the manager was right. But lucky it was not a problem which considers your booking in a bad way. Nice that you enjoyed your stay.

Just a simple little dorm room for me. No bells and whistles. All I needed. I suppose it would’ve been nice if they made the bed, but that’s my only negative.

Quite basic, but everything you need. Friendly and easy checkin and out. Also very clean shared bathrooms.
