"We pulled up to this obviously older hotel and were getting pangs of regret. The front desk is littered with post-its and random notes under the glass top. I was met at the door by a happy little dog and my wife began rolling her eyes. A casual front desk atmosphere was clear. The family that runs it was attentive to my dietary needs, they were friendly, they provided water for us every day to take with us on our outings and literally everything we needed right down to extra towels and blankets were provided promptly.
