The traditional Georgian common in Leeds city center is ideal for relaxing in the grass and admiring the surrounding period architecture.

Leeds Park Square is a quaint grassy park that has offered a green oasis in the city of Leeds since Georgian times. Take a break from exploring the city and relax on the lawns as you take in charming views of the Georgian architecture that encircles the square. Pack a picnic or grab some take-away snacks and relax under a tree, spotting the different flora in the traditional English-style garden beds.

The square is in Leeds’ financial quarter and is surrounded by heritage buildings mostly containing the offices of legal firms. Stroll around the square’s perimeter and check out the elegant red-brick buildings. An elongated hexagonal path loops the square. On the south side of the square, you’ll see the striking architecture of St. Paul’s House, a 19th-century former clothing factory adorned with minarets and turrets.

Take a seat on a park bench or pick out a patch of lawn to relax and enjoy the atmosphere. If the weather is fine, you’ll see office workers from the surrounding buildings relaxing here during their lunch breaks and after work. There are several cafés and restaurants selling take-away food, as well as a coffee cart on some days. Grab a snack and a hot drink and make the most of the tranquil space in the heart of the city.

Leeds Park Square is located amid the city streets of Leeds’ downtown area. It is a block south of the magnificent Leeds Town Hall, which regularly hosts concerts, festivals and exhibitions. You’ll find the Leeds City Art Gallery, Victoria Square and the Leeds Central Library within a short walk away. Leeds Railway Station is about a 10-minute walk south of the Park Square. The square is free to visit at any time of the day. Metered parking is available on the surrounding streets and there are also parking lots within walking distance. Leeds Park Square is perfect for taking a break from the busy city center when exploring the streets on a walking tour or shopping trip.
