The walk to the restaurant needs more lighting. It was cold enough to have ice on the sidewalk. I saw one lady fall. I told the desk and was told maintenance would be in soon.

Had looked foreard to using, and booked a room with a fireplace. Was not working upon arrival. They quickly looked and found that the gas valve was stuck. They did compensate us and took another look at it the next day. The next day when we returned around 5pm we were informed that it would be fixed the next day. Bummer, as the temps outside were cold and there was snow on the ground so it would have been perfect. Lobby is nice. Very high ceilings and a giant fireplace and plenty of comfortable seating. The hallways and the rooms themselves are clean but a little tired. Probably could use a refresh. The lighting in our room was a little dim even with every light on. I like the soft lighting of the lamps, but the upper ceiling lights should scream with bright light. The option iof soft lighting from the lamps and stadium lighting would be ideal. Overall we had a pleasant time. But unless you like being alone I would hesitate to go the first couple weeks of November. We were there for two nights befire we saw anothwr guest. The property is pretty isolated and the grounds get very dark at night. But the sun comes out and you find yourself surrounded by the beauty of Spearfish Canyon.

The internet didn't work as stated in the advertisement in cabin, front steps broken, friendly staff, great restaurant.

The property was well kept,the staff went out of their way to accommodate us. The views around there were absolutely stunning.

The lodge is spectacular! The location is beautiful. The restaurant was excellent. The rooms themselves were fine, nothing fancy. Would stay here again and highly recommend.

Backdrop in the Spearfish Canyon was gorgeous during October. Rooms were very comfy and cabin like as were commons! Only CON: The hot tubs had way too much chemicals, wow!

My husband and I stay here almost every year, for our trip to the hills. It’s lovely quiet very nice place to stay!
