Heavenly good
Posted 19 Feb 2020 on HotelsEach lodge is right by the beatiful beach. In there is everything needed to settle comfortably and relax. Good meals and service are provided at the restaurant. The general view of the bay around is highly enjoyable. It was hard to leave.

This property is ver isolated at the southern tip on the island. The access road is awful. Potholes and narrow. Suggest 4wd or take coastal roytes not through the centre. Boat access is far easier.

Peaceful and a little tired around the edges
Posted 13 Jan 2019 on HotelsWonderful isolated and peaceful place. The hotel is getting a little bit tired. This is one of a number of places that were built around the island in the 1990s and that are showing signs of age (and limited profitability). But the reality is that the spot, the view of the water from every cabin, and the things to do in the area, make this a must-go place. If you expect nightclubs and restaurants, forget about it.
Oh, and like every other place we tried in New Caledonia, the food was terrible and really expensive. It's an issue that drove us absolutely crazy. If you can, bring a cooler and avoid paying a premium for things you really don't want to eat.

Beautiful location off the beaten trail.
Posted 10 Jan 2019 on HotelsThe place with individual bungalows is gorgeously located, nice staff, easy check-in. Every cabin offers a great view of the water. Very quiet and private. Kayak rentals is too expensive especially for the condition and quality. Breakfast if fine (but not great, ie no local fruit but ham, cheese and usual steam table sausage and eggs). Dinner space is beautiful but based on one dinner, food is pretty dreary.
At this level of accommodation you don't really have a choice on this part of the island. All in all though the place is getting tired it is still worth it and tremendously relaxing. For those addicted to their wifi, get used to being largely out of touch. Almost never worked.
We recommend walking the "Chemin des Bagnards" trail from the hotel to the campground.

Quiet, remote retreat on beach edge in south
Posted 21 Sep 2018Enjoyed quiet retreat time at beach edge. Spacious room with adequate facilities but no microwave for meal preparation. Plentiful facilities at main lodge for relaxing in garden setting.
Good breakfast spread and short but adequate evening menu, Limited activities include water board and short walk.
Staff very friendly and helpful.
