We stumbled across the Bark Eater via a Google search, and we feel so fortunate to have found a comfortable, relaxing, and beautiful place to spend part of our road trip vacation of the Northeast.
Our hosts, Meghan and Tyler, and their staff, were welcoming and provided recommendations for things to do and places to eat, and they made us feel welcome to enjoy the many trails and the gardens on the Inn's grounds, as well as the common areas in the inn. We spent a morning walking on the meadow trails, and it proved to be a magical experience to walk through wildflowers with butterflies dancing above our heads. We relaxed further by playing board games on the screen porch one evening.
The inn itself is newly renovated, with fresh and clean decor, and the breakfasts were delicious. We are still dreaming about Meghan's dish of eggs poached in tomatoes and herbs.
The location is perfect - close enough to Lake Placid to see the sights, but far enough away to avoid the tourist scene. It's also an easy drive to hikes and other natural areas in the Adirondacks, as well as visits to quaint towns in the area.
We have already recommended the Bark Eater to friends and family, and we hope to make a return visit at some point soon
