I highly recommend Guest House Oumi. The surrounding neighborhood is very quiet and it's a 5 min walk away from Nijo station which is very convenient.
Tonii-san, the main operator of the guest house, was incredibly friendly and hospitable towards me and the other guests. I asked to switch beds in one of the rooms I was staying in and he allowed me to do so without hesitation. He also provided an iron and ironing board when I inquired about it. As an added bonus, the breakfast sandwiches were delightful.

Super friendly and cozy hostel in Kyoto

Tommy is super friendly, and along with other staff! They made really nice breakfast, and wanna you feel like home!
It's just a cozy house in the leaving area, can reach to everywhere either way by bus or metro or train! It's lovely, clean, comfortable!
For this I will defenitely come back to Kyoto! Seriously didn't stay in this kind of hostel for long time!

I had some interesting chats with Tommy and his staff Mackey. Highly recommend Guest House Oumi to those who want to stay in Kyoto.
