Just...wow! Out of more than a dozen places our group stayed, Genji is our favorite place to stay. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, the property is recently opened and in immaculate condition, the rooms are spacious and comfortable.
The location is nicely situated in a quiet nook along the river with many popular sites within walking distance. Higashiyama Ward, for example, is a short walk across the river, and Kiyomizudera Nioman Gate is visible from the rooftop garden – definitely check it out at night when it's lit up.
We'd stay here forever if it was an option.

Genji is a gem
Posted 27 Oct 2023 on HotelsWell located, beautifully conceived, designed and constructed. All staff were eager, friendly, thoughtful and competent. Loved the properly constructed timber furniture and the modern traditional design was inspiring.
