Explore a desert, watch a waterfall cascade through the rain forest or enjoy the seasonal flower shows in Eden Park’s impressive art deco conservatory.

Admire the artfulness of the gardeners who have sculpted the numerous bonsai in the Krohn Conservatory’s specialist bonsai area or feast your eyes on hundreds of flowering orchids. A wander through the desert section will introduce you to some of the world’s hardiest plant species. Don’t miss the impressive palms in the center of the conservatory.

Standing proud amidst the beautiful surroundings of Eden Park, the Krohn Conservatory is a favorite among Cincinnati locals and visitors alike. Built in 1933, it’s a typical example of art deco architecture and its curving aluminum frame can be seen from many areas within the park. Inside, it contains more than 3,500 different plants from around the world.

Make your way to the Tropical House to discover a wealth of ferns, bromeliads and cycads. Follow the sound of gushing water and you’ll discover a 20-foot (6-meter) waterfall. This runs into a stream that contains koi. Cross the bridge and watch the brightly colored fish swim beneath you.

Head to the desert area to learn about the succulents, cacti and agaves that can survive some of the world’s harshest conditions, before making your way to one of the colorful floral displays. These change with the seasons so you’ll always be guaranteed a stunning display of color. In the spring, this area plays host to one of Krohn Conservatory’s most anticipated events, the annual Butterfly Show. Visit in May to see the wings of hundreds of butterflies adding even more color to the conservatory.

The Krohn Conservatory is located within Eden Park, northeast of Cincinnati’s city center. Allow an hour to walk around all the exhibits, more if you intend to stop and see the Butterfly Show. There is a small charge for entry and extra exhibits such as the Butterfly Show charge an additional fee.
