We arrived about 7:30 PM (19:30) after a lengthy drive and busy day near Salzburg. The Gaestehaus appears to be on a narrow alley in the middle of the town. We could barely squeeze our small car into the alley, and there appeared to be no place to park. We rang the doorbell and knocked several times, but there was no answer, and the place seemed dead, except for a neighbor lady from across the street, that seemed surprised to see us. Tired, and with no response at the door, and looking at the difficulty dealing with the narrow alley and a rental car, we decided to find a place elsewhere. We found excellent accommodations - a bit more expensive - but worth it - a the Pfeiffer hotel about 5=10 miles up the river. I don't begrudge the landlady of Lurger - the place may be adequate for a lonely traveler with a bike or traveling by bus and on a budget - but this was definitely not for us.

Thank you for the feedback. Our guesthouse is located in a quiet, idyllic cul-de-sac in the old town of Stein an der Donau and belongs to the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage Wachau. We have been renting out rooms for about 20 years now and so far no guest has wanted to "squeeze" into this alley with their car. In the - maximum one minute away - Steiner Landstraße there is the perfect parking possibility to unload the luggage and bring it to the guesthouse. So far, our guests have been very comfortable with this.We even tried to contact you by phone before your arrival, but the phone number you provided does not exist. Therefore, all the information that was important for the check-in was sent to you by e-mail. Among other things, our phone number is very clearly visible on the entrance door. Thus, you could have contacted us by phone upon your arrival. At arrival time from 18.00 we were at home and waited for you (by calling or ringing the doorbell), I even went to the guest house at 19.00 to see if you had already arrived.
