Staff are friendly and helpful, also helped to store a backpack for a few hours after check out. My single room is quite small but everything is working including TV, relatively clean. Given the price I think its not bad.
Please stay in formal 4 stars or above hotel instead of guest house in Hong Kong. All the 2 or 3 stars hotel in Hong Kong are super small size even though location are ok. Trust me and you will feel shock when you saw the room condition, the hygiene are very poor.
The single room is a coffin with a mattress. Bed is short and doesnt fit people iver 5'11". Avoid, if possible.

Shocking checkin and 1st night
I was choosing this hotel because of its location and it is really good, but what happened to me during the checkin was a nightmare.
I wrote to the hotel that I am coming in midnight when I was given the key and opened the door I was lost in my words it was literally CRAP! Everything is completely outdated, worn out, dirty. I Asked receptionist to call the manager immediately. the manager called Singh was absolutely rude and instead of solving the problem he started to shout at me offering to get the refund and leave the hotel and it was the middle of the night!!! it was the second wave of shocking experience! He explained to me that what I saw in the pictures was only a few photographs from one or two rooms which they have the rest is all like this when I ask him why didn’t he put the pictures of the bedrooms he said there was not enough space on Expedia profile I realized there was A different logic I couldn’t comprehend as well as cheating the customer! finally we agreed that the next morning they are changing the room to the one which I actually have seen when I was booking it not what I see right now in front of me. From the day one I was living in a nice room similar to what was presented on the website. Expedia should take immediate action to investigate this case and not allow this to happen again to anyone!
The location of the hostel was great and the lady was most pleasant. The size of the room was too small and it was difficult to change and get things out of the suitcase. Having a shower directly above the toilet seat was difficult.
4 nights booked non refundable and only stayed here for 7 hours. The queue to a sardine like,
jampcked elevator was not a welcoming experience
for first time travellers to Hongkong. Chungking Mansion is made of several hostels and Philippine Hostel is one of them. There are only two elevators for a very busy building so wait time to get into the the lift is about 15 minutes. I checked in, was surprised to find the corridors so narrow where I struggled rolling and fitting my 20 kg size luggage. I could not close the door of the reception area because the space between I and my bags and the reception desk was pretty small. The front desk service was okay except for a lady behind the front desk personnel lying down playing with her phone. Seeing that was not a good sign.
I entered my room whixh is deluxe double and was frustratingly agitated at what I have seen. No walk path around the bed. the bed was fitted between the walls of the comfort room and the room walls. The only space is between the edge of the bed and our room’s door which is about 1 meter space to the bathroom. So we do not have a space for our luggages except for a very tight space under the bed that can accommodate one 20 kilo luggage, Only 1 person can do one thing at a time because of lack of space. The toilet- very tiny and no shower area apart from the little space from which you literally walk in from the door. When i showered, water dripped into the bedroom floor. Not recommended at all, unsafe!
Nothing good to say about the room or the hostel. Small room even for a hostel, smelled of something I can’t describe. The room as advertised was a photo shoot from some other hotel or room. The actual room, the bed was in the corner of the room. A small door space to get onto the bed and good for one person only. Cramped for two people to stay in, no room to move, no windows. Not an enjoyable experience in this place. Could not get key deposit back as nobody manning reception at 9am in morning when had to go.
