Browse the vast range of jewelry and visit the museums on one of the longest and most popular shopping boulevards in Germany.

With its rows of stores, plazas and monuments, Konigstrasse is the central commercial avenue of Stuttgart. It is renowned for its sparkling jewelry shops and dining options. Browse the great blend of mid-range stores and upscale boutiques in this busy, eclectic hub.

Stroll up and down the street, which is 0.7 miles (1.2 kilometers) long, for a glimpse of Stuttgart’s culture and history. The road starts at the city’s main railway station and goes through the heart of Stuttgart. Relax at one of the many international restaurants and people-watch through the windows. Try some of the local delicacies, such as Black Forest ham and veal roulade.

Make your way through the department stores and visit specialist shops. Look around the florists and bookshops. Upscale boutiques and shops also line the adjacent streets, including Eberhardstrasse, Calwer Strasse and Stiftstrasse.

Consider the history of the street, which was first laid at the turn of the 19th century. Its northeastern portion is packed with historical gems and museums. Inspect the many intriguing structures, such as the New CastleOpens in a new window (Neues Schloss) that overlooks a scenic plaza beside a garden and lake. Adjacent is the majestic Landesmuseum Württemberg, an old castle containing an extensive museum and a national gallery.

Admire the many contemporary and modern works of art in the Kunstmuseum Stuttgart. Embark on a free guided tour of the Württembergischer Kunstverein, which has a range of cultural exhibitions and film screenings. Watch an impressive musical performance in the resplendent Opera. A little northwest of the street is the Stuttgart Stock Exchange, which is the second largest in Germany.

Note that the name of the shopping boulevard is German for King Street. It runs northeast to southwest through the city center of Stuttgart. Take a train to the Stuttgart Hauptbahnhof station or ride the U-Bahn system to the Schlossplatz stop and get around the shopping avenue on foot.

Konigstrasse is a popular avenue and shopping district adorned with parks and regal structures.
