Learn the art of chocolate making, hurtle down Norway’s longest bobsled run and watch live science shows at one of the country's favorite amusement parks.

Blending thrill rides and educational activities and shows, Kongeparken is ideal for kids and provides a fun-filled day of family entertainment. Just a short drive from central Stavanger, this bear-themed park has more than 50 rides and attractions.

Start your visit at the Bamsebotell, a teddy bear “hotel” where kids can leave their teddies while they enjoy the park’s attractions. Test your nerves on Norway’s longest bobsled ride, which is 3,280 feet (1,000 meters) long. Thrill-seekers will also appreciate a ride on the Bukkerittet roller coaster. It travels around a castle at a top speed of 44 miles (70 kilometers) per hour. Jump in a canoe and take a trip around a waterfall on the log flume. For something a bit gentler, hop aboard the Humla, the tallest carousel in Norway.

As well as rides, there are plenty of hands-on activities to keep both kids and adults engaged at Kongeparken. Learn the finer points of chocolate making before making your own sweet treats at the Freia Chocolate Factory. Unleash your creativity in the Photo Lab as you produce incredible 2-D and 3-D pictures. Be sure to take the kids to the award-winningChildren’s Fire Station where they can play firefighter while learning about fire safety.

The park offers plenty of entertaining shows. Watch as a crazy inventor attempts to make water burn and explode. Try to lift a sword from a stone in the Fairytale Forest and help wash giant teddy bears during the park’s closing ceremony. Find a timetable of events on the park’s official website.
