Old school stately charm, the staff make an effort to provide a luxurious experience in this historically grand hotel. Great to have a bathtub, bathrooms have been renovated. Treats and coffee/tea provided in the room. Friendly and cozy pub for visitors and locals with full menu available. Grand, formal dining room and halls for guests. Typical Scottish decor, plaid carpets with random sections of scenic wallpaper amid beautiful old woodworking. Apparently Queen Victoria stayed here while in Kingussie! We loved our stay and the small town is gorgeous to walk.

We liked our stay here and the folks working the front desk and breakfast were pleasant. There wasn’t any thing to do in the evening but go to the bar. The place is old and interesting. We slept great and there’s some great hiking right behind the hotel.

Food was awful. Chicken pie was slop on a plate with a square of exploding pastry on top. Breakfast had burnt sausages one morning and the next morning they were not even cooked. The only saving grace was the staff. All pleasant and helpful.

This was our first experience at the Duke of Gordon but we would visit again. The rooms were comfy and clean, the food and service was excellent. The staff were second to none as every one was very helpful and friendly. We would recommend this Hotel to our friends.

This is a hotel of faded Highland splendour - but we are quite happy in such hotels. The staff are good and try to help and the room was quiet and comfortable. The shame is that the food caters to the lowest common denominator - coach parties. The choice for dinner was remarkably small and the food was average. The breakfast was not hot and the food in heated containers should have been replenished. The bacon was a welded mat of rashers - inedible. The hotel served our purpose but needs attention.

Upon arriving we were met with a very nice lady and checked in with no issue. While the hotel is quite old and could use a good carpet cleaning, the bathroom in the room seemed to have been recently remodeled and was great. While this is a hotel they do have a ballroom for great live music and dancing which goes until midnight. Unfortunately we stayed right above this said music and found it hard to sleep during these times. Breakfast was average for the price but dinner was much better. The bar seemes to always be busy and rushed but they had great employees and drinks. This property is in a nice area with great walkable paths and stores all around. Finding food other than the hotel nearby was quite difficult and the lady at the front desk was no help with our questions. Parking is available in the front and back lot.
