Aged hotel,as in needs updating from the 1970s or 80s. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful but that doesn’t make up for the lack of maintenance on the hotel. We stayed in what was considered a deluxe room facing the ocean. These rooms open on to an enclosed balcony which is shared by all six or seven rooms so not really a lot of privacy If you wanted to sit out there. also you’re only getting the air that is able to come through windows that only partly open possibly for safety reasons. To get fresh air in your room which the rooms need it because they are stuffy and smelly it’s quite difficult because even though you have your window fully open they are only opened to an enclosed balcony and as stated before even though the window is airflow is limited. they use bedspreads which for me is an absolute no! My first question is when was the last time they were washed. My guess is never also blankets again, when were they last washed. At least with a quilt and covered in a sheet you know the sheets are being washed regularly. Not sure if this adds to the smell of the room but quite possibly also Kingscote has an issue with seaweed and as a result there is an odour from the rotting seaweed. This could also be part of the problem with the smell. The town itself is trying to update But most areas look old and rundown. There is a local supermarket a large park and a pub and cafe there is also a seafood cafe restaurant takeaway

We didn’t get a chance to check in because the office was closed. We list cell signal and didn’t get the message about their 6pm closure. There was an emergency number but I took that to be for fire or other catastrophic events. Can’t comment on the place but did find the Lobster hotel nearby was quite comfortable and offered 24 he check in.

Hi,When was your booking for? This seems very very odd as you would have received a text message that you would have got once in range if you hadn't arrived by closing time, also the reception has a divert if nobody is in the office.. There is only an emergency number on the door during lunch break, which is before 2pm check in. Sorry your mishap has happened.

It has everything that a motel have to offer. So, don’t expect too much. We booked this motel for a night to rest and we were happy.

Really loved the lounge area outside the room but our carpet was feral.

The motel is in decline and lot of things are left unattended. For example WiFi only works behind the office.

Super lovely staff, great location opposite the beach and walking distance to IGA/shops. Rooms were dated, but exactly right for the price point, plenty of hot water and good water pressure.
